You guys crack me up! I'm still unpacking from this years rally!!!!
I WILL be there first again next year! Hopefully I can prevent having to move 3 times though!
How big of a HIAB is it? I would be worried about raising the center of gravity adding that much weight above the frame. Mogs are pretty high up anyway.
It would be cool though!
JT, I may wind up waiting. I would hate to push it back another year, but there is so much to do and I would like to save up a couple of extra weeks of vacation time, just in case. But so many of you are planning vacation time around my trip...
I have gotten word back from the Canadian border...
As for the gun issue- you can get a temporary permit to pass through Canada with a firearm-
Firearm Users Visiting Canada
I have a Mossberg 500, that's what I'm planing to take.
I do not have a set schedule per say. I plan to leave the 3rd week in July. So that would put us in AK the first...
I've hauled equipment, 1.5 miles worth of railroad track and ties, and I now haul WVO on a regular basis with my m818. Looking to get a m915 or 916 soon. The m818 isn't that great for OTR any distance...
:ditto: On the studying and practicing. The simplest mistake and they will say 'fail'
Practice the walk around until you can do it with one hand tied behind your back, blindfolded, underwater, at night.
Hey Blazer boy, let me be the first to welcome you to the site! and as a fellow SC member, what's you location?
There's lots to learn here and a huge pool of knowledge to dip into if you need help. Try the search function first then ask, as almost everything basic has been asked before...
Which blackout light do you mean? the ones in the composite light housings, or the large one on the front of the truck?
The ones in the composite housings are the same bulb as the markers. I've seen some of them in the tail lamps replaced with LEDs.
AMGeneral and I both have one, and we just have annual permits for SC and NC. I believe it was $100 a year for both states, or it was $20 a trip in SC and $30 a trip in NC.
Limits the times you can run it- your not supposed to drive an overwidth on Sundays, holidays, or at night.
Most inspectors wouldn't know what they were looking at- so they would turn it away. Also, you wouldn't get the air brake endorsement on your CDL if you used the m818.
If you take off the outer tires and strap them down to the frame, that might help with your boucing a little, with some weight on the back. I would just leave them where they are. In my mind, your going to do a lot of work for not much gain. if you happen to blow out two on the same side on the...
Hahaha
this discussion happens anytime they wind up in the news or published somewhere- "prices will skyrocket! or soccermoms will whant deuces to drive!" Yeah, right.
You *might* see a small increase in some bidding, but nothing to really be concerned with. Most of the items and equipment...
You have this in the CCKW forum...
I would look for an air leak in the fuel system- enough fuel in the line and IP to fire up at first, but then you have to crank and crank and crank...
I don't know if I would do it anywhere, and I'm crazy. You would definitely want street radials on it if you were going to try that!
Thanks for the update John, sounds like it is a well thought out and very successful upgrade. After a few loads of WVO, I'll be ordering a set for the m109.
Because of our time frame for removing the old ties (local environmental agency is on us with a deadline) we will probably have to fix it before the insurance pays out, so we will have to buy the parts.
Also looking incase the insurance weasels out of it.
The M818 and other trucks I pick up...
