Preliminary observations make me believe that the Schrader valve reduces flow and that's why two tires can be filled as fast as one from a splitter that doesn't include this valve in the feed line. That's the whole idea....
I'll experiment some more and post any new results.
Edit: Using "shop...
Wayne, notice the difference, no Schrader valve on the feed to the splitter.
The compressor can only put out so much air and if there are too many tires hooked up at the same time, there is no time saving and it's just as easy to hook up a pair at a time. I'll get the numbers to show what I...
I like my mil-spec stuff, but somebody should test the aluminum bolts available from Mcmasters for example, cheap and easy to keep in place with a locking nut.....
McMaster-Carr
Gerhard, the limiting factor is the compressor output (about 7 cfm). Haven't done the math yet, but I'm pretty sure that there would be no time saving in having all eight hooked up, two yes, but not eight.
The tire valve (Schrader valve) limits the air flow, so for the compressor there is...
Recheck the airpak plumbing, if the "breather" line in the image below is blocked, the pressure will not release.
Yeah, right click on the image and "Open link in new window" for full resolution.....
Did some interstate deliveries with my deuce and actually had a DOT# stenciled on the doors. Along with the log, medical card and stopping at weigh stations I got into the habit of taking my time and enjoying the drives.
Follow Rosco's advise and break it up, 10-11 hr/day is just right and stop...
The blow-by from the crankcase breather tube or "road draft tube", you describe sounds normal.
There should be no leak from the oil supply tube on top of the turbo.
Gus,
The first step is to remove the fuel shut-off cover and the pull the fuel cut-off assy (image below). Next turn the engine over until the marked tooth lines up with the mark (image below). Only then can you pull the hydraulic head and it goes straight up, no turning.
After the hydraulic...
To clear this up once and for all, can someone measure a 14.5R20 tire so that we will know what it actually is?
Is the 14.5R20 only used for military tires? If so, that would explain the use for this designation for a specific tread pattern, aspect ratio and size.
The 16-20 (or 16R20)...
Thanks for the info guys!
The "14.5" does not imply any particular aspect ratio, so it could be 75, 80 or even 100%, correct?
Duece-Coupe, in your explanation, is "tread width" the same as "tire width"?
14.5 inches = 355 mm, so 14.5 is not an exact translation. Guess I'm wondering where the...
There seem to be some confusion about this tire size, equivalents come up as 365/80R20, 375/75R20, MPT 80 and MPT 70E to name some.
Some are 38.5 inches in dia with 3 plies and others are 10 ply.
Some fit on 8 inch wheels others on 12 inch.
Are they available as military surplus and if so...
