compressor - dumb question of the day

Yeah, connection to alcohol evap unit. If not used the plug (1/8 NPT) must be installed, since it bypasses the filter below.

lower radiator hose for 5 ton multi

Bring the old hose to your favorite auto parts store and match it up with one they have in stock. That's what I did for my lower rad hose (8x8). Carquest 21936 is what I ended up with, if my notes are correct...

    Deuce overheating help.

A reading of 240°F is full deflection on the temp gauge, which would indicate that the connection to the sending unit is shorted to ground. An engine temp of 160 is pretty normal under a lot of driving conditions in a cooler climate. When you installed the T-stat, it was closed and unless you...

    Traction: Super Singles or Duals?

From the TM 9-8000: Drawbar pull = Tractive factor multiplied by the weight on powered wheels So, increase your pulling power by increasing the weight (as long as the gearing is low enough to turn the wheels)....

    Deuce crankcase breather filter details

Good work Devin! Reducing pollution is always a good thing. A couple of observations: 1) Venting it into the air filter may set up conditions for engine runaway with fumes from the crankcase, which contain unburned fuel, oil etc. On the commercial filter, both inlet and outlet are on top and...

    IP problems LDS-465-M52A2

The plunger is lapped to fit in its bore....within a few microns. Rust particles from the old fuel tank can make it through the filters and cause it to stick. Compress the spring and remove the "keepers" to free it (images in a previous post) then check all the parts for signs of scoring etc.

    Inverter advice

What model APU is it? List your 24VDC and 120 VAC requirements and perhaps the APU isn't the best choice to begin with. You will get a clean sine wave from a MEP type genset, but not so easily from an inverter, for example. Inverters produce square waves in their cheapest configs and square...

Saving time airing up and down

Tested the set-up with a Schrader valve instead of the quick disconnect air coupler and it effectively doubled the time from 20 to 30 psi. It took 2 minutes and there is a substantial pressure drop across the valve, about 40 psi. Perhaps for smaller tires, it doesn't matter so much, but when a...

    Deuce overheating help.

The oem gauges are usually very accurate. Check your sending unit, wiring and get a new military one.

    Fuel filter subs

Don't know, but I got the real thing from Memphis...about a year ago (2910-00-790-2300 or 8729068 or Facet 053754-01). If they don't have it, try SECO 1-800-733-7326.

Max Amp pull from a Slave connector?

The wiring and connectors for the deuce starting system is generally 250 to 275 amps throughout, including "00" cables and connectors (slave) for a continuous rating. If current is higher, expect some temperature increases.

    Fuel filter subs

The NAPA 3511 is a 10 micron filter and not well suited for a primary water separator/filter... The original mil-spec primary is 40 micron for the deuce. For comparison, the primary for my xm757 8x8 is rated 50 microns..

Max Amp pull from a Slave connector?

The slave connector is a MS type (or Bendix) and the contacts are rated 250 amps continuous....I looked it up some time ago.

Replaced fuel filters but need to prime

May be a bypass valve... Edit: When it opens, fuel goes back to the fuel tank. It is spring loaded and the nut should be tight and does not effect the calibration.

    Deuce overheating help.

I looked at the housing and the thermostat fits snuggly in it. The moving part of the thermostat slides in and out of an opening also with a tight fit. There is no separate seal. If the opening for the moving part is corroded, you'll need a new housing not a different T-stat.... How did they...
