It is really hard to find good design info on tires, it's almost as if it was an art. Corresponded with a "senior designer" at Goodyear, who worked at the plant where some of my 8x8 tires were made ca 1990 and he knew nothing about them. He suggested I call Acron Ohio, yeah right another dead...

Alternately, you can mount them on a cross bar, a muffler shop made mine. Can't believe how costly they are now, got two for $50 about ten years ago.

Don't forget that the mil-spec air filters are cleanable and may be reused for a long time...

If they are in fact 5 micron filters, they will need to be changed often. Monitor the pressure drop across them so that you don't end up with a bypass valve opening and no filtration at all. For fine filtering, use a bypass filter and keep the full flow ones at 25 microns....

The tires were specifically designed for this series and were not used on any other vehicle with the exception for some tests on the Lockheed "Twister", as far as I know. They are 16/70-20 (or 16/70R20), nondirectional, tubeless types.... Edit: Hmm...they do look similar, though..found one...

Yeah Ron, the axles and bogies look the same, but the spacing between the 2nd and 3rd axles looks shorter. That plug in the airtight brake drums is an inspection port. The tires have a 100% aspect ratio compared to 70% on the xm757/m656. The smaller HIAB doesn't appear to have any need for...

I understand that you have spent a lot of time and effort into fixing up your pipeline bed, but the 950 being so heavy and taking up so much space behind the cab, why not consider an M105 bed? The pipeline bed weighs about 2,000 lb all by itself..maybe more.

Yes, the one suggested by BC, 12 pt deep 7/8" worked perfectly. The thin walls of the 12 point made the difference.

The oil filter cartridge should be #1133 for NAPA or 85133 for Carquest....

With the weather improving more will be done, got the steering knuckle boots ready to install, the fuel burning heaters will be worked over again, little things like license plate holders, freeing up a stuck pintle hook, replacing some kinked copper air lines, installing the "hose tenna"...

I too built one of Kenny's version's...it worked so well that the pump has now been sitting for several years unused...maybe we should be passing them around. :-)
