Hauling fuel is definitely hazmat. Another thing to consider is your vehicle insurance. Almost all insurance is null and void if you are moving hazmat unless your insurance specifically authorizes it.
I have an M149A2 water buffalo that has a 400 gallon water tank on it. I don't haul water with it on the road, but I do haul water with it on my property, pulling it with my large John Deere 5520 cab tractor with a heavy loader attached and wheel weights. If the tank isn't full, it tries to...
My M116A2 trailer is rated for a maximum payload of 2040 Lbs. You would be exceeding that by 1460 Lbs with that tank. I wouldn't think that was a good idea if you intend to pull it.
Follow everyone's advice above. However, don't assume your batteries are OK. I had a battery years ago that I kept a trickle charger on. It tested close to 13 VDC with a VOM. However, when put under even a very slight load, it went basically open, and then went back to close to 13 VDC once...
For used, that is on the high side. Since you aren't trying to tie it to a transmitter, all you need is the intercom function. There are less expensive Sigtronics intercom options on Ebay. But yes, that would work.
If you are still undecided, I would recommend a used Sigtronics aviation intercom. Very small, operates off a 9 VDC battery or the 24 VDC in the vehicle and both headsets would plug directly in. I've used a Sigtronics intercom for over 23 years without any issues.
I use Opti-lube XPD in all of my older diesels including M35A3, FLU419, M1030M1 diesel motorcycle, John Deere 5520 and 4600 tractors. I don't bother with my 2008 Mercedes E320 Blue Tec or my 2010 F250 diesels as they were designed for the low sulfur fuel.
I found the report I mentioned that evaluated the different additives to increase lubricity. As you can see, several of the additives actually created a worse problem than straight diesel fuel.
I also use Opti-lube XPD. Great stuff. There was a test of most of the common lubricity additives for diesel fuel a few years ago. They actually measured wear on stainless steel with a microscope. Opti-lube XPD came out on top. Interestingly, some people have been using Marvel Mystery Oil...
When I first got my M35A3 10 years ago I had some similar issues. I jacked the truck off the ground where I could easily turn the steering wheel to left and right lock repeatedly very easily. I then added air tool oil to the air line, probably a teaspoon full, hooked the airline back up and...
It only takes a very short time to build up enough pressure to blow your finger away because the internal volume of the tubing is so small. You also asked about how to raise or lower the pressure on the regulator. The top screw/bolt on the regulator can be turned in or out. Turning it in...
Just because you are getting the pfft - pfft sound doesn't mean that your compressor is building up air pressure. I would recommend disconnecting the crossover line you replaced. Disconnect it at the drivers side. Run the engine and place your finger of the end of the line. You should feel...
I previously had the same issues with my MEP003A. In my case, it turned out to be air leaking into the line to my bulk fuel tank. I had originally thought the solenoid valve was bad. I tested it by disconnecting the lines, applying 24 VDC to open the valve and blowing through it by mouth. My...
I needed to replace the Terminal Board, P/N C5147, Mfg by McGraw Edison, NSN 5940-01-284-6455 on the hydraulic cooler on my FLU419. Mine was severely corroded. I found a bag of 5 for sale on Ebay. Obviously, I only need 1, but I'll keep another for a spare which leaves 3 more. If anyone...
What tires did you order? I need to replace my tires as well. Your tires actually looked much better than the tires on my FLU. I think if I blew a tire driving at speed on the highway there is a good chance of rolling the FLU. I've been thinking about Continental MPT80 12.5R20 / 335/80R20...
Are you sure it is just 8 hours? The last digit, normally red, is not tenths as I assumed, but full hours. For instance, when I got mine it read 819, with the 81 in white and the 9 in red for a total of 819 hours. I have no idea why they did that, but it easily misleads people. You likely...
