    MEP 003A not getting 240v

One thing I do with my MEP003A is exercise the switches every few months, just to keep them working good.

    Gasser Deuce top speed?

I drove an M35 gasser for awhile in the Army in the early 70s. From what I remember, 45 was about top speed unloaded and not much power. The M35 I drove was a Studebaker as well, but I have no clue as to what engine. I do remember the truck was very quiet and smooth while driving compared to...

FLU419 road driving legal concerns and challenges?

I have my M35A3 registered that way as well. I can use the vehicle for any personal use, but no commercial use. Same with my State Farm insurance. The problem is that almost every state has different rules.

FLU419 road driving legal concerns and challenges?

In Georgia the best way is to register it as a commercial vehicle for non-commercial use. Same with the insurance. Very inexpensive.

    MEP 003A not getting 240v

If the switch is actually stuck, you might want to try a can of aerosol contact cleaner.

    11 gallons of oil?

Has the fuel density compensator been bypassed yet? This is a very common problem when the FDC leaks fuel into the crankcase. If the FDC hasn't been bypassed you should go ahead and bypass it. If it hasn't failed, it will fail in the future. You don't need the FDC for multifuel capability.

    Kawasaki M1030M1 Manuals

Due to low sulfur fuel and corresponding lack of lubricity of the fuel, I always add Opti-Lube XPD diesel fuel additive to the fuel on my M1030M1. In my opinion, this is the best diesel fuel additive around for lubricity. Also, never use the compression release lever while starting the engine.

    M38 A 1

Sometimes tires that look perfect can cause a shimmy. Try swapping the wheels from front to rear and see if you still have the shimmy. If the shimmy goes away, you know it was the tires or wheels.

    Interesting Find

Did the truck come from the military via auction or did you receive it from a previous civilian owner? If from a previous owner, I would talk with them about what you found.

Official 2020 Georgia Military Vehicle Rally (20GMVR) information thread

Very good Rally! The weather was absolutely perfect. I finally arrived home at 2:00 PM after a long and boring drive. Actually a boring drive home is good because it means no breakdowns. Those that missed the Rally don't know what they missed. Thanks to Clinto and Gunnermac and everyone...

Were the M151s and the M151A1s in anyway better than the M151A2s?

I've never owned any versions of the M151. However, I put a lot of miles on both the A1 and A2 models while overseas in the Army. The A2 is a better vehicle than the A1 in my opinion.

Another MV for my daughters inheritance

Very nice looking deuce! You did real good. I hope your daughter(s) appreciate it!

Official 2020 Georgia Military Vehicle Rally (20GMVR) information thread

I'm all loaded up and full of fuel. Unfortunately, I can't leave from Hiawassee until Thursday morning. I'll be pulling my M149A2 Water Buffalo. I had a little delay because my alternator failed. I installed a rebuilt one and it is working great.

    Burying a fuel tank

I find it easier to own diesel-powered vehicles that I try to keep mostly full. That way I can use the auxiliary fuel hose when I need more fuel for the generator, and best of all, the fuel is always 100% fresh. No storage of fuel required. I can't imagine that living in an area like Miami...

Official 2020 Georgia Military Vehicle Rally (20GMVR) information thread

I now have the new alternator installed and it is charging correctly. Actually a very easy job, but the rain made the job last a few days. I'll start PMing the deuce tomorrow, but I don't expect any issues since I drive the truck fairly often and I routinely check most everything frequently.

    MEP-003A

I stand corrected. I was positive I was correct until I went out to my genset and found that you are correct. Thanks for correcting me.

    MEP-003A

Yes it activates the solenoid. Sometimes the solenoid can hang up even though I keep it and the linkage lubricated. If the genset doesn't start firing, I release the start switch and manually exercise the solenoid up and down and then attempt a start.

I have the old alternator off, just in time for the downpours to start. I may ask my wife to hold an umbrella over my head while I work, but she may have something to say about that!

My alternator is toast. I have a replacement, but I'm still in denial.

    Since the 10th digit in the VIN is 'J' the production date was 1988. The 10th digit is the key to production dates for most VINs. A = 2010 B = 1981 or 2011 C = 1982 or 2012 D = 1983 or 2013 E = 1984 or 2014 F = 1985 or 2015 G = 1986 or 2016 H = 1987 or 2017 I = Not Used J = 1988 K = 1089 L...
