Michelin XL tire grooving and siping

Good job! Can't see the siping very well in those images. This is how I did mine...only siping, about 3/16 deep, no rubber is removed. Takes about 15 minutes/tire.

    Diesel additive

RE: Re: RE: Re: RE: Power Service Additives Right, I only use it as an additive in this case, about a quart/20 gallons of diesel.

    Diesel additive

RE: Re: RE: Power Service Additives I put fresh, store bought veggie oil in with the diesel, it's near neutral, not acid like WVO and won't harm your seals....

    HELP! HIAB question (CRANETRUCK)

RE: Got Okay, good...A new hook is expensive, more than you paid for the crane so far, but you should be able to locate one on ebay. Mine is a 7 ton Crosby swivel type model "7JH".

How does one actually get Alcohol into the brake system???

Problem #1 on your list indicates that a contaminated desiccant cartridge can let water into the system, that alone is a reason to also have an alcohol evaporator hooked up. From the "Repair" column, oil from the compressor will contaminate the cartridge....

    HELP! HIAB question (CRANETRUCK)

Glad you guys made it home alright. I didn't get a response on the hydraulic outriggers, were they included? They are important, you did ask about operating the crane without them during the little demo here, but we didn't go much further. Thank you again for the switch guards, they will be...

    EGT temps at idle?

RE: Re: RE: EGT temps at idle? No David, I don't have that info, but the engine TMs have some of that data like the 9-2815-210-34-2-2. Lee Houdel may have posted a chart going back a couple of years....

    EGT temps at idle?

Re: RE: EGT temps at idle? The multifuel engine burns only about 1 gallon/hr at idle, that keeps it from warming up also. Compare about 8 gallons/hr at 55 mph.....

How does one actually get Alcohol into the brake system???

Since the subject includes air dryers, how often must the cartridge be replaced and how do you know when to replace it? How is oil handled, which is almost unavoidably mixed with the air? FWIW, the FMTV trucks use air dryers. Thanks.

    Manifold Heater Question

Hearing the "buzzer", actually a relay, is half the battle...how do you have the spark plug connected, have you checked all contact points? The cable and connectors to the spark plug provide the ground, no other external ground needed...here I go talking about grounding again.... Spark gap...

How does one actually get Alcohol into the brake system???

You don't pour it unless you have the jar. :-) The compressor "inhales" the fumes, so that the alcohol is mixed with the air and can absorb the moisture. Alcohol plus water has a much lower freezing point than water alone, so there will be no ice. Just drain the air tanks as usual and the...

My CUCV keeps blowing Starter Relay???

The starting system has no monitoring lights to show what's happening, so you must rely on your hearing. The sequence of events is as follows: Start key energizes starter relay, which energizes pull-in and holding windings of the solenoid (there are two windings within the solenoid). The...

    Towbar gone Wrong

Well, maybe you'll need one to tow another. :-) You are always welcome to stop by, you have had, at least one part in the restoration of the 757, the BO head light assy. One day I'll make a list of all the steelsoldiers, who has had a part in it, starting with James (M1075), who posted an image...

    Towbar gone Wrong

Yes, I installed them incorrectly and the bar broke as we tested it around the yard, which was very uneven. There were extra parts around, so after replacing the broken towbar everything was ready for the long tow home...
