Since it's difficult to tell if the flame heater is actually working, I put together a monitoring device, shown here. It turns on a light on the dash when a flame is detected. Squirting raw fuel into the intake manifold is not helping if not lit....

The magnets are neodymium type 3/8 dia discs available on ebay.

The spark plug is grounded via the spark plug cable...make sure it's okay by testing it when unscrewed so that you can visually observe it. Gap should be 1/10th of an inch.
Yes, have had an air operated butterfly valve in the exhaust pipe for some time. It is great for long downhill drives to keep the speed down without using the "service" brakes. Used it extensively during the Rocky Mountain crossings a couple of years ago...greatly adds to the confidence factor...
That's the return line for the manifold heater nozzle. Yes you can remove it and plug the nozzle. You'll need to plug the feed line also, to the right of it. Can't run the heater without a return line....
....the coil works in conjunction with a vibrator circuit (all built into the cylindrical housing), so the result is a continuous spark action at the spark plug...image below is the result.
Prepare a long jumper wire, clip one end to the neg batt terminal and the other to the headlight return post. If this gives you a working light, then you know that there is a problem with the ground path.

They are multifuel burning...made by S&W South Wind division and should be 20,000 to 30,000 BTU for the deuce. Complete, could run a couple of hundred, actually about the same as the hot water heaters with ducts, diverter etc.
