The vaporizer shown in the TMs is all you will need, vapor of methanol is taken in by the compressor and mixed with the (if any) water in the air system. The system uses about a pint of alcohol every 1,000 miles or so in my experience....
Chuck, try using the "Audio Input" terminals on the VIC-1. It has a 6,000 Ohm input impedance and the signal is amplified within the 1780. I have used it for a CD player.
Chris, I salvaged the battery box from the parts M925 near here, my intent was to use it as a tool box for the xm757, but it's all steel and very heavy compared to the aluminum used so extensively on the 757...if you can use it, its yours for $50 plus shipping (pick-up?). It does have some rust...
Keep in mind that when used with the VIC-1 system, there are some 30 connections that must be in perfect conditions for it all to function correctly, most if not all contacts are gold plated (including relay contacts). The accessible contacts may be carefully cleaned with a pencil eraser. Check...

Dave, all 500 were built in 1969, there were no others except experimental ones used by Ford and at Aberdeen (APG). Most are still in European scrap yards, the rest retired from Ft Sill...
There is a vacuum gauge sold to check the vacuum on the outlet side to tell when it's time to replace the Dahl filter element, so perhaps they will work even better if they are installed as per instructions.
For the Racor filter, an excessive pressure drop is the indication of a spent filter...
