Much easier and a lot cheaper to sell your A3 and buy another with a winch if you want a correct winch. I have an A3 with winch and it is fantastic. Much easier to use than an A2 with a winch.
That is correct, but the premature tire wear is wear in the center of the tire. Higher pressure to a reasonable level increases economy and tire life. Just don't go too high.

What steering wheel is on the A3 you are working on? A3s have a smaller diameter steering wheel than the A2, which would make it even more difficult to steer than an A2 with manual steering. You are going to have to spend some money to replace your missing parts.
