I have found the bat/gen gauge to be very accurate, the problem is in the wiring. On the deuce, the gauge return "wire" is the instrument panel 1/4 turn fasteners, which may or may not provide a good connection to ground. Needless to say, I added an actual wire from the dash to the instrument...
With beauties like these, maintenance should be paramount, make sure they are kept at full charge at all times, keep them cool and with perfect connections.
Checked with the Chargetek 500 dealer and was told that it's good for Optima and Hawker type batteries also.
To keep the batteries from...
I have a kit dated 9/87 and have used parts of it without a problem. Don't know what the age limit is on gaskets like these, but they are all individually sealed in plastic bags...
RE: DUECE STARTER CAN SELF DESTRUCT IF TESTED WITHOUT LOAD
Keep in mind that the starting system has virtually no safeguards, it's totally under operator control. Try starting your engine with ear plugs and you'll know what I mean. Usually a starter or its components are destroyed by the...
Been working on the dome light installation off and on and they are now ready for paint and final assembly. The truck has a canvas top so the plate rides on the support rods.
No, the oil within the IP drains right back into the crankcase. Originally it was drained via a separate connection sort of a short cut and there is a pipe plug in the bottom of the IP at that point, but it still drains right back into the crankcase.
I think that the engine hours could be an...
Checked two different fuel density compensators on the bench this morning. One leaks and one does not.
The leak occurs around the piston rod, which has no gasket but is only a metal to metal fit.
Apparently the leak is caused by wear, although the there is very little movement while in...
Have the oil analyzed often David, I know I will since I'm keeping the FDC on line in the 8x8 -2 engine.
In the opinion of my chemist friend, biodiesel will not cause this problem, since the molecular chains are much shorter.
The FDC leak may be caused by tiny (rust) particles in the fuel. I...
You may have put your finger on it, spoke with my chemist friend and she suggested that it's polymerization, the heat and pressure (=oil pressure) will create "long molecular chains" which increases the viscosity. Kind of the opposite of making biodiesel, where the chains are broken to reduce...
What is the BTU rating? Almost looks like a 60,000 btu unit, which would be too much for the cab. Can't find anything on the model M241B1...
The control box and also the required fuel pump/filter may be found on ebay from time to time.
I'm using the fuel burning coolant heater to heat the one tank containing biofuels, so the engine doesn't even have to run for heat. Close to testing it now, rainy weather delayed the work, but should be able to have it up and running next week. A few feet of fuel lines are also heated by...
