    Draining water from fuel tank?

Actually, it is bacteria. Algae need sunlight. And they need water to live, yet feed on the diesel. Unless you leave the cap off, most water comes from the air. It is condensed out when the temperatures drop, then sinks to the bottom of the tank.

    Draining water from fuel tank?

There is no "sump" on the tanks so the effectiveness of a water drain would be based on the level of where the vehicle is parked. Any projection on the bottom of the tank might be a problem in serious off-roading which is why there is no specific drain. Since the priming pump doesn't extend...

    Newbie MEP-018A questions

You need the top cover, otherwise they will overheat. Cylinder head temps should not get over 400 F. Yes, they are loud and inefficient as they are air cooled and 2 pole, meaning they need to run at 3600 RPM to get 60 Hz power. While the 018A will generate far more than 10kW, do not overload...

Look at what fell off the back of a truck

Clean! Nice idea about the ramp, yes it will sink, should have compacted it more.

    3 push start

The purpose of the lift pump is to assure flow even if the fuel is partially gelled. Since diesel is a broad mix of hydrocarbons, when fuel gels, only parts of it gel, there is still a liquid portion. The lift pump will homogenize the gelled fuel and make flow possible as well as generate...

Looking for M35 Repair Shop near Huntsville, AL - Brakes

It isn't hard to fix a leaky wheel cylinder. Either get a new/rebuilt wheel cylinder or rebuild kit and a brake cylinder hone. Total cost is about the same. Now if the shoes are soaked...new linings which you might be able get done locally, otherwise that is another $56. And you will...

    Hot Start

It should be the same. Just don't use DexCool. (Death-Cool). All of the vehicles used the same thing when I was in the Army.

    Any tricks for cable?

Take it off, hook it to the negative (black) clip of a battery charger, then submerge it in a bucket of water with washing soda in it. Hook the positive to a grid formed from rebar. Use a plastic bucket, coil the cable and put it in the bucket. Do not let the cable touch the grid. Rust...

    Another New Deuce

Well, the panels are sun bleached. But I have ideas... Make the graphics for the printed panel using any computer software...Photoshop/Autocad etc. Autocad would be easiet. Then print it out life size for proof. DARK INK, laser printer is best. This is the pattern. Take the old board and...

How safe to tow a Deuce with another Deuce?

They ALL have that damage...well most of them. I was looking for the missing intake cover and the slight ding on the tail gate. The beast starts and runs, bet it is the only one on there and they needed it to transport something. You need to watch those DRMO guys :x.

    Compressor Belt Tool Dimensions

How expensive are a set of dial calipers? I would make the measurements but I have better things to do with my time. I am designing a tool to make rear wheel service easier for those without a concrete surface to work on...a field wheel dolly, only it is highly portable (as in fit behind the...

    Another New Deuce

It drives better than it looks. Sure, the steering is just a wee bit loose but that is in the box, not in the tie rods. I had the joy of doing the ferry drive, some 45 miles. It buries the needle on the speedometer. A little stiff on starting but that is probably fuel filters. New tank so...

How safe to tow a Deuce with another Deuce?

Shoot, might as well spill the beans. DRMO has MOVED your truck, it is SOMEWHERE on the lot so it starts and has brakes. But since I only had the lot and item numbers and SOMEONE pulled these off, I couldn't find it. Rest assured, it runs and brakes are serviceable. I am starting to...

    M35A2 Transport vs. Drive

Congrats! You did fine. Remember, with the air wipers, you can manually actuate them. Hindsight what it is, a roll of duct tape does wonders to stem leaks.

How safe to tow a Deuce with another Deuce?

Well, today was the day to get this now repaired M35A2 off the DRMO lot and to its new motor pool, some 100 miles to the south. It started fine with a M1009 jump, brakes worked and tires topped off to 50 PSI. It was a double day as I assisted mkcoen get his new deuce off the same lot, only...

    Winch Shear Pins

Don't use your winch with anything but aluminum or possibly brass. Steel, even mild steel, has over DOUBLE the shear modulus than aluminum.

    Dead Batterys

The most damage is from partial charging. Batteries discharge by turning lead/lead oxide into lead sulfate. In return, the sulfuric acid electrolyte decreases in H2SO4 concentration, the lead oxide "gives up" the oxygen while the H2SO4 "gives up" hydrogen, forming water. In the recharge...

Parts one might need for axle seal job..

If you are overhauling wheel cylinders, get a good cylinder hone. Save the old brake fluid to use when honing, just filter it though a disposable coffee filter. Got a pressure washer? It works to clean out the nasty grease in the knuckle when the axle is pulled. Shove rags in it to prevent...
