No, breathing isn't an issue. It does just fine as is in flow. The issue is the Hypercycle, it squirts fuel ONTO the piston through a 2-orifice injector nozzle. The pistons have the combustion chamber, a spherical affair. This limits combustion rate so gasoline can be used.
If you were to...
Thanks, Lee! (rosco). That is a great explanation of bearing adjustment as I was trying to do. So many have too much confidence in a torque wrench when in actuality, torque to actual fastener tension is highly variable. For the bearing nuts at the specified torque, it is fairly close BUT...
The FMTV program has had but ONE contractor (with a change in ownership, they are still made at the same plant with roughly the same people). The M35 program had what, about 5? FMTV also uses mostly commercial, off the shelf systems, from engine/transmission and brakes. About the only thing...
The thing to remember is with jam nuts, the tolerances of the nuts on the axle add up. With the inner nut tight, cranking down on the outer nut will take ALL of the "play", further compressing the bearing. Always spin the wheel after installing the jam (outer nut) and before peening over the...
It might seem subjective if you have never done it. You can feel when there is play on the bearing, especially if you observe the hub/axle gap. Or feel it.
Be sure to properly seal the keyway gap with the cork. And double check the breathers on the axle, when they "stick", pressure forces GO...
Yes, you can JUMP CHARGE. Not jump start. I did it last week at DRMO, some idiot was trying to tell Andy and I that it could not be done. I whipped out my voltmeter and checked the battery voltage...going up.... Took about an hour, in the mean time, I ran through the other PMCS items.
Takes...
The turbo on the LDS 465 series is so lightly used that coking isn't a problem. Diesel exhaust is much cooler than gasoline engines during part throttle use.
But if you are pulling a trailer with the accelerator pedal mashed to the floorboard, letting the engine cool for 5 minutes is a great...
Without laws, you must have a compound to keep out the scavengers. You also need protection. Best bet would be a mix of hunter-gatherer and farmer, this all requires team work.
Depends. There is a fine strainer on the nozzle holders to protect the needle. These are easy to fix but you need a clean place to take the nozzles off, back flush, pull the needle and clean. Only remove the nozzle, the other end has the spring preload section and if taken apart, it might...
You would need a much more accurate governor. The hand throttle is just that, a throttle. The engine should be fine at 1800 RPM with a 4 pole generator but it would be a waste for any load under 50 kW and that is a rather large generator. And that load is probably too much for the PTO, at...
Well, if you want to drive them, why not make an event out of it? Say a MV meet open to the public in a public park? Post it here, make a few posters and get the permission? Coordinate with the VFW/Legion for the final say.
How about riding support for Patriot Guard? I am certain they would...
The vent poppets can "stick", making for slight positive pressure condition. Since these are 1/8 NPT, I would retrofit to a hose system like the deep water fording kit but don't supply any pressure to it, just vent to a dry place in the engine compartment.
