The recent winch postings remind me that there is a winch on the 8x8, a project that still after two years remains on the to-do list. Maybe because it's really a 2-man job...It's mounted up-side down for a right side drive from the pto, so there are some differences. Don't think that a level...
Had an opportunity to look one over the other day coming through Meadows of Dan here. These things are massive, restoring a HEMTT is not for everyone, that's a given. This one had the armor plates on the cab and was the truck tractor version with a rear mounted winch. The winch was on the...
After installation and working with the intensity, I'm not satisfied with the LED lights, the individual sources are very bright and are not diffused as is the incandescent light.
Using #356 bulbs with original fixtures, a pretty nice and even light results, so that will be my solution here...
Tested the #356 light bulbs for the dash and they work very well, even illumination on all instruments.
The lower location of the filament puts the light source in line with the openings in the instruments....clear lenses would be perfect.
Re: RE: XM757 progress
Right Mike, but every time I start a new job on this truck it tends to expand into a project. Installing this fuel selector valve, I had to remove the 3rd air tank, which was in the way and it turned out to have a epoxy putty fix hidden from view! Not good for a vehicle...
This thing is keeping me busy, image lists most of the stuff I'm working on, but the list is far from complete....
At least a dozen of you, my fellow steelsoldiers have contributed in one way or another over the past two years for which I'm very grateful.
Will be working on the fuel selector...
RE: Re: RE: MAYDAY Truck Down
You have an obvious fuel delivery problem, when did you change fuel filters last?
An air leak could also be the culprit, how is it when you open the bleeder valve on the secondary/final filter bracket, air bubbles or fuel?
Re: RE: Re: RE: Re: RE: Going through Water...
Plug the bellhousing and you are good for about 3 ft of water, next you have to worry about the crankcase breather, compressor air intake and then the engine air intake. The axle vents are not supposed to be a problem.
The reason for wheel...
For proper battery charging, you need to control voltage and current and monitor the battery as well. Here is a typical charger controller IC...
A 50 Watt solar panel would be ideal here to restore charge and trickle charge the battery.
Welcome to the site Spraypattern...The turbo in my 8x8 truck is described as "dual chambered", could you expand on that since you seem to have a lot of knowledge here?
Thanks
