Could just need a lube. There is a 1/4 NPT plug in the rear of the air pak. Drain the air, remove the plug and give it a teaspoon on Marvel Mystery Oil and then give it a try.
TM9-2320-361-10. It covers the basics of the M44 series. The 209-10-X get a bit more involved. All are a good read, start with the 361-10. Took me a few nights of reading before I went to sleep.... read, fall asleap and drool, wake up and put it away, repeat the next night
Well, I was thinkin' Stoddard again. There are still hundreds of miles of trails we have not been on and, with an exception for Nathan, it is close. Plus the eats places and lead disposal...besides, the desert could still use a bit of clean up out there. Sorry guys, just lots of stuff happening...
Don't mean to hijack, here's some pics I took of LAPD 2 at the Museum today...stopped by to get dimensions for a 113 u-joint and thought of this thread.
V-100, when you talk to your friend, see if he knows if the ram pieces for this V-1-00 are still at LAPD and if so, would they mind donating...
Well, I did some checkin finally. The only weekend that is good on this end 'till after the middle of June is the 25/26th of April. Seems there is something goin on every week. I already know Hole can't make those dates. See how that flies. If that won't work for too many, there IS something...
I'll get the numbers later this week. As for the gasket material, i've seen the blue stuff, but we used what was in stock in the Museums parts warehouse. Some of youse guys out west should find some time to stop in there. There is an AMAZING amount of stuff there. After I pulled the hydravac out...
I flipped the rears up, just had them down 'cause it was raining and I didn't want to hit my head everytime I walked by it with them up  Do you know the p/n and make of the upgraded hydravac unit? The throttle has already been converted to a morse cable, I have heard nightmare stories...
Well, the brakes went smooth. Put new style piston and cup back in, VS the old style V ring style, it should last longer. Dis mounted 4 of the WWII bolt together combat wheels, dismounnted 4 lock ring type with good rubber and put them on the WWII wheels. Took the fuel system apart and cleaned...
Glad you're OK. Here's another thing that can cause oil out the tube. Excessive valve clearance. The causes alot of splash. If the valves on the 3 and 4 cylinders are loose, that could contribute to it. Also, if someone has had the valve covers off and reinstalled the block that the road draft...
UHHH, don't sit on the fender and have someone drive it, that is a sure way to NOT be able to enjoy your truck. Just plug the road draft tube and your leak will show up.
Check out the above pic. There is oil on the compressor housing, like it is being sprayed onto it. Check the dipstick tube, maybe it is loose. Another trick is to clean it off, run it at idle and put a rag or your hand on the road draft tube...in short intervals..and watch for where the oil is...
Mine had the tailgate step on the drivers side. I replaced it and installed one on the passsenger side with some folding ones...mucho better for us old turds! Mikie, good to see ya here! There have been some on e-bay that went around $25. Just keep an eye out. Did you call Tony?
Not only that, there are a number of places on the block on that side the oil can come from. Take the pipe off of the turo outlet and see if it is wet. If no, it isn't a turbo. Start lookin' or an external leak. After looking at the pic again, the oil is fairly clean. If the seals in the turbo...
Dunno. I think i'll take it down myself. First for the learning of it, second, the Museum is on a VERY limited budget. I am a well versed mechanic so I'm positive I can do it, i'd just like to get the correct stuff. You are correct, the will most likely be a civi place that has parts. I'll just...
Thanks Bjorn! We can get the track to the proper tension, but it bleeds off very quickly, as in the first time it rolls! It is a grease type, you just pump a cylinder fill 'till the track is at the proper ht...the ones in the PS Mag image. It is just a mess of grease seals in the cylinder. I...
