seems most rebuilds I have seen from Tooele are Continentals. The "newest" batch of M44A2's all had the Hercules in them. All my '80's era trucks (original, not rebuilds) all have the Hercules MF in them. My '68 A2 (1990 Tooele Rebuild) has a rebuilt Continental.
When I painted parts here and there, the finish is flat. In fact I found it was more flat than Gillespie. After 6 months it was just as flat as CARC. 14 months later it's still looks great. Still matches CARC and really no fading that I've seen. Should mention these painted parts are stored...
Tony it appears ANY 5 ton MV requires a Class B CDL (M814, M813, M818 etc).
From many conversations with my friends with the WSP, ANYTHING with a Gross Vehicle Weight over 26,001 requires a CDL. I've called the State Dept of Licensing about buyin a M813 or M818. They said it is classified...
That's the biggest thing holding me up on a 5 ton (CDL). Last year they changed the rules and now require schooling for a CDL. They also said it was OK to train on the job with a company that drives. Looked into the class locally and it's a one month class minimum. Someday I'll get that CDL...

Hmm, never thought about this concept. It's usually the question of how to replace a LDT not what to use an LDT in place of. Definately going to keep my eyes on this thread.
Just curious, was there any issues in getting her fired up initially? Just wondering if the issue was present on start up and just progressed as the truck was driven. Was it a smooth start up or did she struggle to fire up?
Just an idea I had. Since there appears to be some issues with using the STEELSOLDIERS name, why not just use the singular form of STEELSOLDIER? Collectively on this website we are in the plural form however individually you're a steelsoldier (singular)...just an idea.
