Bruce, if you ever need help translating, tags parts of manuals or whatever let me know...
The manufacturer is "Hagglunds", which may help in a search......
The simple solution to this is to add a toggle switch in the feed line (wire #10 to "F" terminal) and making sure it is OFF when the engine is cranked or shut down, just like we are supposed to do with the radios/intercoms etc.
Running the starter can produce some horrendous voltage spikes, in...
Like Will says, first take the alternator off the engine. There is Woodruff key on the shaft so it has to come out straight and even, I'd use a puller, for sure.
Did you inspect the original overflow valve, how does it look?
Just curious.
As far as bleeding the fuel system, do it before starting the engine each time and find out if you routinely get an air pocket at the secondary and final fuel filters.
Starter cranking speed of 200 rpm is nominal at...
According to the TM, the coolant thru the intake manifold is primarily to heat the air (as jwaller states) at very low op temps, remember the mil spec temp range goes down to -50°F or so and when a coolant heater is used, the coolant will also help the engine start process. However, it also help...
I have had a discussion with Robert (Rdixiemiller) about checking my rod bearings to determine where the engine "knock" comes from.
What range of Plastigage thicknesses should I look for and does age matter (oldies on ebay)?
I need to get my deuce road ready again and if I don't get started on...
The military specifications or requirements must have changed also, the tactile feedback part is no longer present. Look at a vintage military radio and note the shape of the knobs and controls, designed to be "felt".
As previously discussed, the lock lever on the 3-lever switch may fail in...
Re: RE: How Much Boost
This came up before and I couldn't leave it alone, so I installed a couple of thermocouple probes and measured the effect of the water jacketed intake manifold.
Well, the coolant actually cools the air even at a boost of about 10 psi. I measured about 225°F in the...
Guess sombody discovered that diesel has higher heating value (more BTUs/gallon) than gas and decided to charge accordingly.
Those prices makes a person ill. (barfing smilie here)
Based on the oil flow diagram in the TM, this is the original drain for the IP, so my guess is that the concentration of fuel in the oil would be higher here than in the crankcase, at least that was my point.
It really looks brand new! Here is a PS mag note that may help:
