Installed a different spring (with two retaining clips!) and put it back on the pump this morning.
Got some more clean-up work to do before lifting the cab back on.
Drilling and tapping the holes will produce a fair amount of shavings, didn't keep track of how much ended up inside, but I wouldn't want to take a chance with the turbo in place. Note two holes for choice of front or rear half of the manifold.

FWIW , there is a military precedent, the 757s serving in Germany were fitted with mufflers to keep noise pollution down, lots of driving thru small towns. That truck also had a turboed multifuel engine....
Removed the hydraulic head on the lds465-2 engine IP this morning. As I was pulling it out parts started to fall off, the return spring had broken....
This explains why the fuel plunger wasn't returning. I have replacement parts on hand and will try to put it all back together later today...

Every detail of this truck is engineered, if there is some oddity it's for a reason, in this case there may be more support needed for storage of the spare tire (behind the driver)....all this makes this a most exiting MV to "play" with.

Spent about 5 hours preparing for the lift and 2 hours on the actual lift of the cab.
The fuel plunger in the IP is sticky and I need to take the hydraulic head off at least, so the decision was made to take the cab off needed or not. It certainly makes for super access.
