Road Trip TX -> North, SEPT 29 - OCT 14

Have a great trip Patrick! I'm glad you are taking your time, no better way to enjoy a trip in the deuce. A deuce is operated not driven. :-)

    Spotlights

The flood lights are 150W/ea and a 15 amp breaker is marginal if you have two turned on at the same time. NSN 6240-00295-2421 for the light. The standard circuit breakers on the deuce (and other MVs) can handle the inrush current. I would use a 20 amp breaker for two lights and run it directly...

    M62 at work

Re: RE: M62 at work Interesting features, what year is the truck and how is the oil heated?

My "new" HIAB 765A is home

My HIAB is a 1975 and serial number 017. The other tags appear to be the same, one very faded had the Naval TM's listed. I'll dig up images of tags and crane deatils if needed. The housing below the pedestal does have a slight bulge to it on my crane as well and I have to drain water from it a...

    Starter heat shield

Here is another piece for Devilman Mike to fab up and sell, a starter heat shield found on the LDS465-2 engine. I don't believe that I have seen it on any other multifuel engine. Would make a lot of sense if your engine is "turned up", in particular.

M.A.N truck parts needed for restoration

Here is the MAN version that was used when Pershing 2 was fielded. It replaced the XM757 and P1A, ca 1983. Note the fifth wheel and it also has a crane. The crane was previously mounted on the missile erector launcher trailer.

Double your air, double your impacts......

RE: Driveshaft clearance BC, nice project. Put checkvalves in the system so that you'll have reserve air for braking in case the compressor fails. Don't count on the rubber bumpers to be the end of deflection, they have been smashed at least once on my deuce.

    Reliable ground, yes or no?

Good going Jon! I think you'll gain a lot of confidence in the process, learning about an otherwise hidden and "taken for granted" electrical circuit.

    Reliable ground, yes or no?

I know, you think I'm getting paranoid about this grounding stuff, internal/external washers etc. BUT, check the image below, if the parts were primed and painted before assembly, and they very likely were (at least primed, I have checked other assys), what kind of ground path is provided by the...

    Forty Below Zero Deuce

From idle, my turbo seems to come to a stop in perhaps 10 to 15 seconds, from the sound of it anyway....("D" turbo)

Road Trip TX -> North, SEPT 29 - OCT 14

RE: Re: Road Trip TX -> North, SEPT 29 - OCT 14 They need to be hardened and cad plated, normal mil spec "star" washers. I have used commercial ones and they are simply too soft to do the job. Thanks for the suggestion, though!

Road Trip TX -> North, SEPT 29 - OCT 14

RE: Re: Road Trip TX -> North, SEPT 29 - OCT 14 Fair price? Have no idea, can't find any, so whatever you come up with. The lack of them is holding up a bunch of projects... Did get some from Will in Monrovia and that helped, but they are for the 3/8" bolts, so not too many of them needed, 1/2"...

    air pack

If you can get a small impact in there, it usually works very well. In case it all goes South, the cylinder comes off and you can rework the port, put in a bigger plug or whatever.

    Forty Below Zero Deuce

If you let the engine idle for a few minutes, that problem should be solved. Turbo shouldn't be spinning very fast then and the lube requirements should not be high (somebody correct me on this and/or provide numbers that would show a need for lubing when shut down from idle).
