HMMWV sand color paint can tell its history? Were they all painted green first at AMG

Vice versa for me, we had armored M1152 Shelter carriers with shelters come in while in Korea. They were brand new and desert tan, after the exercise cycle, sent them to paint to become Woodland Camo to match the rest of the fleet. Thankfully our M1165s came already in woodland.

    FAV- fast attack vehicle prototype

Nice score! Almost looks like a GMV prototype vs. a FAV. I'm guessing it has some sort of adjustable suspension? Look forward to some details and better pictures! ;)

1944 MB and GPW barn finds

IF they are not rusted, don't touch them besides maintenance and maybe a wet towel to wipe the dust off. Whatever you do, don't turn around and sell them to some kid so he turns it into a rock crawler!

    Picked up my M998 today!!

Wow! You're lucky! I would have guessed they would have dragged it out! Maybe they're working on fixing their reputation (or GP has back billed them enough coin). Look forward to seeing it in Denton!

    First First First

And read the manuals. make sure you have an understanding of the quirks of these trucks. One of them is the shift from (2nd to 3rd?) that is somewhat significant vs. other shifts/auto transmissions. Cab overs are also interesting if you haven't driven them before. Read the LMTV/FMTV/M1088...

    Lifting cab

Might help if you take a picture with reference, clear up any confusion about what's coming from where.

    What Does C + G Within A Plus/Cross Mean?

We do it in the Army when stuff is probably going to move by air, but usually use Tape or chalk to mark it. Mainly because the load or config may change from one load out to another.

I think we discussed it earlier in the thread, but nothing major. We put a lot of time and effort into these trucks, don't exactly want to hem them up on some rocks.

You can drive to the camp site and sleep in the back of your truck, or setup a tent, or whatever. This isn't a hike in 20 miles and live off of squirrels you kill or anything.

Humvees making their way around the world

Couple things on this, Equipment not transferred through DLA would not have this code. The HMMWVs we have supplied have gone through Dept of State (DoS) transactions vs. DoD transactions. In addition, stuff we are not (specifically MRAPs) are being mutilated in certain countries vs. paying...

    What is this part called?

I looked through the mid-80s era K5 Blazers, they have external body replacement stuff, but nothing for the interior minus floor pans. I was hoping to link him there. Rock Auto or someone might but I really am not a fan of their website.
