For original color, There's a pretty good bet it was NATO Woodland CARC. We didn't start doing desert tan for the most part until the 90s, and that was a minority compared to Iraq/AFG time frame where everything (minus Korea) seems to be desert tan.
Just got back from taking some pictures.
Apparently, I'm now a victim of being unable to upload photos, either from my phone via the website or desktop via the website.
Felix and his gang (GovPlanet) do basic trouble shooting and maintenance to attempt to get every truck running. That has included buying batteries to install on trucks (2 will run an LMTV). I'm saying your luck hasn't gotten much better. If they say it doesn't run... It needs work.
To find a loading dock, I started looking around on Google maps and cold calling. Got a manager that got a kick out of the fact I was loading mil-surp and said I could do it for free as long as he could watch!
Good luck on the trip, glad you have a chase driver.
Any chance, since you just...
1. Update your location
2. You will want to verify the Real ID (TSA/DHS based) information and that your state DL is not one of these: Am.Samoa
Illinois
Minnesota+
Missouri
New Mexico
Washington+
If it is you will need one of the following IDs...

Those might be part of the "mothership" modifications that SOF did to the LMTVs they brought into either Iraq or Afghanistan at the beginning. A way to hold more without extensive modifications (remember they deployed with only a few weeks notice and not exactly how they planned, read up on it...
Correct, my VFW is going through the process to get a vehicle. It has to be approved by TACOM and then is released to the most local Garrison Commander, who meets with the group and, based on what's available, provides an item. It is still USG Property AFAIK.
Keep in mind that with the behr paints and home depot, 24087 can be had in flat to produce a flat OD OR as a semi gloss... just because I'm pretty sure that will turn up in your searches.
Yep, even happens on base. HEMMTS and the FMTVs are too tall. You can hang some chains along your axles or similar that are lower and (hopefully) activate. The other thing to do is look up your state laws, regarding motorcycles, and how they are to use the actuators. Follow the same...
Smooth as GLASS... holy crap what a difference some tires make. I'll get the details and pics up this weekend, but drove her back from the shop today... and WOW... seriously smooth. like a completely different truck.
