I took the GL paint off by first using a hobby knife to scrape off the big stuff. Once I got the paint layer down pretty thin, I just used that CRC Brake Cleaner in the red can to remove the rest. I just sprayed a little into a rag and just scrubbedit. Albeit, some of the CARC will come off...
Gees, KJ1969 the truck you are getting sounds great and all but there's one thing. Restoring these trucks is 80% of the fun w/the other 20% being driving them. Good luck to you with whatever decision you make.
I miss Ferdinand's!!! and that sharp Cougar Gold Cheese. Come to think of it, I miss Basilio's, Sella's, and that cheap ole Pipeline Pizza. Must have had pizza at least once a week at Pipeline
One thing to consider is matching the pattern up to the cargo cover you plan on using. Not sure what the deal is out there, but the two 3 color camo truck I have purchased have had a completely different pattern than the cover. I mean it wasn't even close. Both trucks were Tooele Depot rebuilds...
Wow, this one nice clean looking truck. Definately convinced me to re-CARC my truck!!! Forget Gillespie, that CARC is beautiful....who would have ever thought beautiful could describe CARC...I am really too far in this hobby:roll:
I have had to revert to this particular technique when I rebuilt the 4 winches I have. I used a standard 1/2" rubber mat on a concrete floor for this. What I did was simply tore down my winch as shown in your 2nd pic. I placed the shaft portion on the floor and lifted the entire assy about 3...
The bell housing is different b/c the starter on the LDS is on the port side and the starter on the LDT is on the starboard side. The turbo on the LDT was not fitted on the engine for performance. The turbo is merely part of the "Clean air" kit. The gov't used the turbo to reduce the smoke...
