Good ideas for screw extraction, please

There is a washer present, just not a very large one. I'm soaking the broken bolt with a penetrant while I'm considering my options.....

    Deuce Idle RPM?

Glad you got it back up and running Tom. I'm taking my time diagnosing my IP problem, constantly sidetracked by "new" problems....

Good ideas for screw extraction, please

Uncovered what looked like a loose cap screw on the idler arm (image 1), but it turned out to be a brokes grade 5, 5/8 dia bolt (image 2). The broken bolt is in the water pump housing, so if it comes to a worst case, it can be taken off and brought to a machine shop. I have used screw...

    Trailer recepticle pin outs

I'm surprised it isn't marked. The rubber molding should have the letters in relief, just look at it from the right angle and with a magnifying glass if you have to. The image of the connector is from an M52A2.

M923A2 came home with me today!

Chris, why not put it back on ebay, with a reserve if nothing else amd you'll find out how much bidders are willing to pay. Most of us poor slobs can only afford the old stuff. The FMTVs and new 900 series trucks are way out of reach.

    Another deuce brake problem!

BC is correct. Like Tom suggests, watch the pressure rating of the switch in its original application. It will normally be exposed to 1,800 to 2,000 psi and should have a rating of twice that. I prefer the original location, just get a switch that's up to the job. The procedure is shown in PS...

    Tank Pump

The cable feeds 24 volts and ground to the pump, no other ground connection. Make sure wire #79 is properly grounded to the frame of the vehicle. When connected, this one ground also grounds the fuel level sending unit and provides a static protection ground for the tank, all via the pump, so...

    Need compressor pulley puller

Of course, the compressor pulley just has to be difficult on the multifuel engines and the dash two is no exception. It requires a special tool to pull it and to be able to change belt. Part number is 602195. I suppose that if the puller is on hand, the job is a bit easier compared to the other...

    IP problem for the experts

RE: Re: RE: IP problem for the experts Thanks, I have one to practice on, so maybe I can fix the one on the LDS465-2. The fuel delivery spring can be replaced and if repolishing the fuel plunger works, I should be okay. I don't have the 1-11/16 socket required to turn the crank shaft on the...

    IP problem for the experts

As usual, a small problem leads to more and more "work", in order to trouble shoot the IP and remove/replace the hydraulic head, I need to turn the engine over by hand and since the automatic transmission effectively hides any access to a drive shaft to turn, the radiator had to come off. It...

    pioneer tools

Re: RE: pioneer tools I have a collection of shovels with broken plastic handles, the plastic breaks down in the sun and is nowhere near as strong as the oldfashion steel plus wood type. A shovel is very useful when changing tires and would be #1 on my list of pioneer tools.

FDC bypassed is fule too high

Jason, do a search for "pyro", you'll get over a hundred hits. It's kind of like the proverbial "can't see the trees for the forest" or "you gotto know what you are looking for to find it" kind of thing. If you have any questions beyond that, we are here for you.

    Changing fuel filters

The in-tank pump will take care of it for you. There is also a bleeder valve on the fuel filter bracket (on the engine) to get the air out. Just run the pump and bleed the air and you are good to go, Don't forget the primary filter/water separator on the right frame rail.

    6 Wheels vs. 10 WheelsthereT

Re: RE: 6 Wheels vs. 10 WheelsthereT Of course this is nothing new, the very capable m656 8x8 series were fitted with single low pressure low profile, tubeless radial tires back in 1968. Almost a full 15 inches wide and off road TP all the way down to 10 psi, not 24 as specified for the...

    Rusty fuel tank problem(s)

Mike, the primary filter is the Racor 1000FG seen in the image behind the driver's seat. It's top loaded like the other fuel filters on this engine. I really like being able to take the "lid" off and simply drop another filter element in, beat the spin-ons hands down, don't loose any fuel and no...

    6 Wheels vs. 10 WheelsthereT

Army Motors had some pictures of CCKWs with dual fronts for desert driving a few years ago, I'll look, maybe I can dig some out.

    Rusty fuel tank problem(s)

About two years ago, I bought a used deuce fuel tank, which included a pump at a bargain price. I spent a lot of time cleaning it because it had rust flakes on the inside and pinholes that needed repair. Oh well, it was a fuel tank and I needed one for my heated tank project. To make a long...

    IP Hydraulic Head

A little less than a year ago, I replaced the hydraulic head on the IP of my deuce. The engine simply quit running after idling for a short time at a refuling (Joplin, MO). Today, I took the hydraulic head apart and the conclusion is that fine particles of dirt in the fuel caused scoring and...
