Thanks for all the information!
Fortunately, only a few spots are bare aluminum, so most new paint will go over lightly sanded old.
You know me, love to post pictures so you'll get them, count on that. :-)
Edit: Noticed that the words "US ARMY" have been removed across the top in the picture....
Any special considerations when painting bare aluminum? My XM757 cab tub is all aluminum and is down to bare metal in some places.
Would it be similar to magnesium as explained here...
The ground return is very important as stated above. I actually added a separate ground wire from the front composite light mounting screw to the fender to bypass the questionable ground provide by the mounting screw to guard to fender.
To solve the flasher sensitivity to the condition/quantity...
The batteries can handle it alright, but for what length of time depends on the amp-hr rating and the internal resistance of the batteries (=state of charge).
I'd say for the standard 6TL batts, 15 to 20 minutes or so.
You will need some heavy cables for sure.
Thanks Lance! Let me know the charges and I'll mail you the money.
Green is good.
Rizzo, I really did look for your drive shaft while at Barstow, CA, the image below gives you an idea of the problem, not knowing what it looks like (and the pricing in general was not very reasonable).
Thanks, makes sense.
About the color, I should have written "color" and not "camo". Never saw a como colored one except for Frank's shown here and I doubt that it's correct.
In order to get funds for missing parts for my XM757, I have decided to offer this tachograph for sale.
As shown above with the dash panel and the two other gauges, $65.00 plus shipping.
It's just like shown above, nothing has been tested and the key(s) for opening the case and winding the clock...
Perhaps someone can comment on this, I have several images of the XM757/Pershing Erector Launcher vehicle and most display no star. One image does have the star showing, as does my '69 XM757.
Question: When was the star used and what was the base camo color on these vehicles?
FWIW, here is a picture of the "guts" of one of my parts units. It's a Leece-Neville 60 amp alternator.
They sure cleaned it up and with a connector and all (different brand and age, I know).
Bottom line is, make sure you order the right thing.
PS. I also read somewhere that some 60 amp...
RE: Question
The inner seals may be tough to get out, but I used a long 1" dia rod, which passed thru the diff and popped the seals out from the opposite side.
