This is an ex-Navy HIAB equipped International Loadstar 1600 with front wheel drive and floodlight :-).
Snapped these images while visiting with Jon a couple of months ago.
There were only a relatively small number of these vehicles built, possibly less than 500. David Doyle would know, I'm sure. To support the 100 or so Pershing missiles in Europe, would require about 300 vehicles. Then again, they were replaced by MAN 10-ton tractors, so I'm not clear on the numbers.
Those are the return lines. I have some extra nylon tubing I can send you. You can reuse the fittings, but you will need new ferrules.
PM a mailing addy and I send you the tubing.
Again, thank you all for the advise! The priming part of the paint job is not going to be very extensive, only several small spots have worn through to bare aluminum, one notable is the driver's floor boards and places where I sanded through the layers to find markings.
Cabell probably has a...
Thanks Dave for that refresher course!
Just checked the data tag and lo and behold, I got a couple of numbers wrong, should be 05A24169. I'll check the sanded area again on the truck tomorrow.
Thanks Mike, it makes sense that the truck would have come from Fort Sill. OK, the only training battalion for the Pershing.
What markings could one expect if it in fact had been at the 3rd battalion, 9th field artillery unit at Ft Sill? Guess there is a battery in there somewhere too.
Another...
As far as which axle to power, I think it's important that the first tires to encounter an obstacle are driven up and over it, say a curb, instead of having rear tires trying to push it up and over.
That's why I use front wheel drive and forward rear axle drive on my deuce. A 4x6 in other words...
IMHO, you might as well pour it into the fuel tank, the multi will only burn 1/2 gallon an hour at idle while recirculating 30 gallons during that time.
So dumping it into the filter canister will only burn a small fraction while returning most of it to the tank anyway.
This M656 (in the Netherlands) has the 4-color MERDC camo. Interestingly, the numbers on the door are similar to mine, "05A241...". I may be missing the last number. Wish the resolution was good enough to read the bumper lettering...
Edit: The number on my XM757 is 05A24169. Sanding layers of...
Did some (light) sanding today and found some numbers and letters on the truck.
Shown below is the right front bumper, ""TDC FAS".
Anybody know what they stand for? Pretty sure FAS stands for Field Artillery System, though.
How are numbers repeated when written on the doors, front and rear...
All my supply voltages comes via the MX-7777 surpressor/reverse voltage protector and I would higly recommend that if you have electronics onboard, get one. Not more than $30 on ebay (usually).
Shown here in my deuce, but applicable to any MV.
