OUT AND ABOUT WITH MY HMMWV

It was a good time, wasn't it? Bret Michaels did suck pretty bad, disappointing. But the others were awesome. Besides us, the only MV I saw was this deuce, but never did meet the owners. I love his unit designation on the bumper :ROFLMAO:

OUT AND ABOUT WITH MY HMMWV

We just survived 9 days Buffalo Chip rock concert line up/camping at the Sturgis Motorcycle Rally in South Dakota. A real good time to be had if you can restrain yourself from the "hard partying" and stick to the fun stuff. Line up that we attended at the Chip was Bad Wolves, Travis Tritt...

Alignment help needed after shim removal!

Here is a video with basic breakdown on the principals. Then, follow the TM (9-2320-280-20-2 Paragraph 8-11, page 8.38 . Also front end is para 8-10, page 8-32. Some follow on maintenance required. These TMs are written with a 18 year old high school graduate in mind. Pretty easy to follow.

What have you done to your HMMWV today/lately

My replacement tires from Feltz tires came in yesterday (unfortunately the top tire got damaged in transit, the shipping company employees must have put another pallet on top and gauged the sidewall pretty deep. Now I am waiting what Feltz tires is going to do to get a replacement out here... I...

Need help with power steering issue from hell

Depending on the rate and sensitivity of the gauge, fluttering is just when pressure bottlenecks in the hose to the gauge, or the gauge itself. It happens often when I synchronize my carburetors on our Vtwin motorcycles and have the gauges hooked up. I know its not hydraulic pressure in my...

    Humvee Steering Issue

Any progress on this? Just wondering... I had a pressure line slightly loose, maybe less than 1/2 turn, enough to suck air in and cause an airlock in the cooler. Once tightened, and properly bled (most important part, I thought I was topped off, but ended up filling another 2 cups worth while...

    It's alive!!!

We just returned from a 20 mile round trip, driving between 25 and 60 mph, 94 degrees outside temp. The codes have cleared from before and have not returned. Shifting is just like it is supposed to be, we even were able to down-kick, that was not happening before. Very happy for now, hopefully...

    It's alive!!!

I have used the impact driver, no luck. Used both bit, wide flat head, and #3 Phillips. Getting to the point of almost stripping the fasteners, but stopped short of that. Used penetrant oil as well.

    It's alive!!!

I reinstalled the box (without opening and testing D8), and checked for codes. All were erased, I am assuming that is by design once the power is removed or is there just no condition to trigger any codes? So, now I will be test driving soon and will report back.

    It's alive!!!

I've got the TCM out, cleaned the fasteners really well, but they aren't budging. Even with impact driver. Now I'm afraid to hit it "really hard". Suggestions? Would it be safe to assume we have voltage or is it crucial to find out? Thank you for sticking with this...

    It's alive!!!

I'll get on that. Quick question, do I need to disconnect the batteries at any point, like when disconnecting the connector? The fasteners are a real b!tch, original with CARC on them.

    It's alive!!!

So, I got 3.78V on the #355 at the TPS, as much as I could open the throttle on that little lever. There may have been some more room past that, but I was dangling over the motor, trying to mind all the "No Step" areas. #355 at the TCM box is 0.44V as well.

    It's alive!!!

    Hmmm. #355 has 0.44V. #350 has 4.99V.

    It's alive!!!

I will be studying the brake switch position and adjustment as well as the TPS section for the same. I know the TM have a prt in that, as well as the trans supplement has some helpful parts. Thanks for giving me heads up. We are in the beginning of the Sturgis motorcycle rally, so the next two...

    It's alive!!!

I do have the supplement, yes. I have been reading and trying to understand the basics. Mind you, until I recently replaced the filter, I've never worked on an automatic transmission, let alone seen the insides live with my own eyes (as our VP would say :ROFLMAO: ) I really appreciate your...

    It's alive!!!

UPDATE: I ran the Transmission diagnostic mode and got three codes. 22 - Throttle Position Sensor Circuit Low 38 - Torque Converter Clutch (TCC) Brake Switch Stuck Off 85 - Undefined Ratio Error I will start getting a plan together, doing some research. Does anyone have any pointers, lessons...

    4L80E Transmission crossmember bushings?

What version are you looking for? Parts manual TM 9-2320-280-24P-1, figure 179 and 180, no bushings. Just the shouldered stud for A2 (item 9)

    It's alive!!!

Thanks for the reply. You are absolutely right on the difference between the two, that is why it is hard to describe, it is more of a mix without the whole of the symptoms, only some. Thanks for asking to clarify. To elaborate, no racing rpms/engine when it happens, sudden and brief (1 second...

    It's alive!!!

Hello everyone. Update on the transmission pan: I was able to clean up the pan mating surface, and the old gasket. I took a chance and installed it, static leak check was good. We drove the truck for 45 miles. continuously checking in 1-2 mile intervals, then 5 mile intervals. All is/was great...

    It's alive!!!

When you say factory, do you mean order a new hard one, or go with the flexible rubber? I think you mean the latter, but want to double check. Edit Just reread your post, I understand better now, get a new hard gasket. Thanks everyone.
