looking at the pics again--- you really need to take a close look at how the batts are hooked up. from what you said , it appears the positive posts are hooked together?

Need a better pic of your batt lead hook up. doesnt look rite but pics are not clear.

dont know if there is a connection or not but my XM818 was shut down using the battery switch a few times and the alt failed. the rebuilder asked about spikes. I make sure its never shut down that way again. just to be safe I shut the M35 engine down first then kill the power.

yes. repower is complete. sorry for not updating this thread. only have 500 miles or so on the repower but so far all is good. big difference in power of course. a little better top end with the double over 13. ended up dropping the eng/trans about 5 3/4" from original location. fan...

The Jake brake idea is a good one. with these single circut brake systems the engine brake could very well be your only means of slowing the thing down if something fails. dont even bother reaching for the parking brake at speed because all it will do is roll smoke. jakes will not fit...
