The fuel shutoff shaft inside the fuel shutoff cover (not the shaft that goes through the cover at the end of the engine stop cable). Sorry, I got ahead of myself.
I've had the crank won't start problem on other deuces, all I did was clean and lube the shaft and it worked fine. This time, if I remove the two safety wired screws the shaft turns freely. As soon as I put the two screws back in, it doesn't want to turn. The TM's don't mention this problem...
If you want to know what it was originally, get the NSN off the data plate - it will look like 2320-00-XXX-XXXX. Then look at TM 9-2320-209-10-1, pages 1-6 and 1-7. That has a list of all the NSN's and the type of truck - also see pages 2-22 and 2-23 for original weights and dimensions, etc.
All my 003's are two pin, all the 002's except one are two pin, the one 002 with one pin - if you want a one pin, I'll swap for a two pin - 004 is two pin - M35 and M49 are two pin, but both have one pin adapters. If God wanted us to have one pin connectors, he would have made them first!
The MEP-004a is 50 or 60 Hz by changing the rpm. It cannot do 400 Hz even if some of the data plates (like the ASK) indicate it can. The 004a can be converted to single phase (see Sewerzuk's threads), but it's not switchable like the MEP-002/3.
The MEP-113a is 400 Hz only, it could probably be...
Maybe I'm missing something, but the 003's and 004's have two 6tl's just like the deuces. If the genset batteries are charged, they should easily start a deuce with the genset running or not.
I had the same problem with my deuce. First be sure the engine stop handle is pushed all the way in, then check the engine to be sure the cable is pushing the rod all the way in. If it just sticks out a little bit, it can cause that problem. Put a little PB Blaster on the rod, disconnect the...
