Ok guys! I'm really enjoying reading all this. Kenny, no need to be speechless! Heck I dragged the travel trailer from your place and the clearance was MUCH tighter on that than this set-up by far.
Lance, Buddy had to give me a bit of a push up the hill at his place. I made it about 2/3rds...
Mourning all!!!!
Well, I left home in a hurry yesterday. Reminder to self: DON'T GET IN A HURRY!!!!! That bit me in the butt big time on time. I forgot my chains, straps and one box of tools (I have four boxes though). Driving the back roads at 45 mph really bites. Talk about making a five...
I'll be doing something similar with my four door (see avatar) pick-up. I have a 12 volt pump and will refill as I'm driving. Plus I'm modifying the genset to also draw from the same tanks so when we're parked we have power, heat and A/C as the environment demands.
Markings?
WOW! Rick you've done an impressive job with her! Are you going to letter her with any Illinois Guard or unit markings or just keep her as-is?
Kevin,
Call me anytime. School is out and I'm applying for a job with the Sheriff's office as a deputy (yep Kenny, it looks like a go!). I have two D ring binders of wholesalers and such. I decided to stay with equipment and such. I had too many people wanting special sizes and stiffing me...
I had one tailgate step on the front bumper. Before swapping the bed for the shop van I used another tailgate step for the other side of the bumper. I prefer them over the fold ups because if for some reason the front tire goes flat the tire will take off the fold-up step too.
LDS is THE engine to put in the Deuce! If I had one I'd be doing just that and retrofitting it like Ken said. It's a beautiful motor with Five-Ton power!
Kevin,
That's my dream trailer! She sure looks wonderful! I know about the surplus business. If you want some tips just call me. I'll be happy to share my experiences.
You will need to flat tow it. When you do use the side roads and US highways and STAY OFF the interstates. I'm doing that with my trips. The truck will be better off too. Plus it's much safer at slower speeds if something goes wrong.
M35,
That's why I converted my 35 to a 109. I LOVE the utility. Plus I'm getting a magnetic bumper sticker that says "Ultimate SUV" rofl :jumpin: :driver:
Nice to hear from y'all from the "Great White North"! Excellent synopsis too!!! It seems you have quite a bit of experience with Deuce brakes. Thanks so much for jumping in!
