There is an LVT at a park in Yakatat Alaska down on the panhadle. Also a coast atillary piece. I'll try to dig the pictures out when I get home tonight. Yakatat is land locked.

Hi Karl, after the engine is tanked we are going to mag the block and head. I reasonably sure my track wnt through a refurb some time in the 50's. The missmatched suspension parts give me my first clue. But after looking at the engine and seeing clean it is and how few parts I have to replace...
Okay on to the high dollar part of the operation.:???: Oh wait it's all high dollar. Anyway Found an old school mechanic and he has the engine torn down. Do have to put in .020 over pistons. Bore taper is right at the limit. Also new intake valves but everything else is good. Just clean up and...
I took some shots of some cut frame pieces I have, I'll try to post them soon. Just an FYI the tracks all use the same plate in the front roller or winch. It's actually amazing how much of the track armor was used between the M2 and M3. Due to production they didn't try to make a whole lot of...
I remember seeing an IDF halftrack up at the Portland convention. It had a little C series Cummins and an Allison AT Not sure what sure on the series Allison, maybe a MT653. Not sure how they mated up the transfer case.

That front armor piece is original on the roller model there would be 3 straps that go to the cross member. My ht was a roller but the previous owner cut off the roller and put on a winch. I had to weld the hole back up. If you look at my thread "My M3" there are some good shots of the frame...
Edlebroke, I think I suggested that you invest in a set of manuals. They do make them on CD I imagine they are on the web someplace too. I would also recomend you get Hunnicut's book on the history of the US halftrack. It really goes into the developement of the half track and all it's variats...
Karl, according to someone that saw a GMC in Littlefields bone yard the idler arms are the same. We had quite the disscusion over on the halftrak info site. It's pretty clear that Diamond T's did this in early production. One of those weird little things.
Don G.
Karl, got one for you I have an early Diamond T M3. 1942 I think my frame may have been destined to be a Motor gun carriage maybe. Look at the idler braces on mine!

Hey looks you have a good start. I've seen allot worse! Check my thread here and on the "G" I had to take 4' out of my frame. If I can offer any words of wisdom let me know!
Don G.
I feel your pain! I bought a new set of tracks and boogies that I'll be putting on soon. I'm rebuilding the boogies right now. Tracks are not for the faint hearted. I'm trying to save for another set of tracks now. Good luck

Thought I'd better catch up. I've been working on a lot of the do-dads. Rebuilt the clutch and brake pedal assembly. Had to machine new bushings and weld up and turn down the shaft. Starting to install my new wiring harness. Spent last night putting on a new CV boot. What a pain.
Enjoy the...
