MDG,
I dont think anyone has done a step by step tranny rebuild thread. Ive never found one, but that doesnt mean there isnt one buried somewhere here with a misleading heading. I think the TM for the rebuild of a 3053a is in the TMs section here. I think there is a few guys on here who have...
I unplugged mine. Too annoying. I might get a warning light, or a different buzzer if I can find one...but as for now, even though its a low air warning, I will leave it disconnected. Back when I was learning to drive deuces in the army, three quarters of them had no warning buzzer...to counter...
Didnt get a whole lot done this weekend. Was a lazy one lol. I did get the frame and suspension pressure washed and degreased, and the bed reinstalled. I need more paint to finish, but as usual, the $$$ seem to be a little shy this go round.
Oh crap. Well, I did the best I could by looking at the pics lol. I should have asked, but I get a little over-zealous sometimes. I will order new ones ASAP. Until they come though, I will leave these on there. Thanks for the input mini.
...Well whatever design you come up with WM, mark me down for at least 2 short sleeves in XXL.
I kinda like the 915 idea..an A1 right? With the good old triple axle 872? hauling a M1113? That'd be cool.
...I know that lol...I have no doubt Ill find a place to dig in, I was just saying, as of right now I do not. I want to go so bad that if it were tomorrow, I would just show up with nothing, and dig a hole to sleep in. Still a ways off, so I have time to plan it all out, and save my pennies...Im...
So, I dropped my leave form last week, and was approved. However, looking at my current fiscal situation, Im leaning toward taking 4 more days of leave, and driving to GA. My car gets like 42 highway, and roughly estimating, it would only run around 200 bucks each way. And if I bring a friend...
Camp San Luis Obispo (SLO) and Camp Roberts...must have been close to Fort Hunter-Ligget. Used to go deer hunting at FHL in the training areas. Nice area.
I see convoys alot...the NTC isnt far from me. Last week I merged onto the freeway at 2345 after work into a 15 truck convoy of PLS's. I would roll with them but 75mph is so much better then 50-ish when you want to get home after work lol. I wonder what they would think if an old deuce did just...
I finally got my lazy rear in gear and put some primer to the bed. I also got a little more of the truck painted. Im going to do more this evening and probably some tomorrow as well. Wont be long now till its all green and I can put it back together again.
Few pics...
Hey TS...just keep looking lol...I had a helluva time trying to find Xylene around here, and had to settle for Xylene/toluene replacement with 0 VOC because of CA's stupid EPA rules. Maybe theres some sort of replacement for naptha.
I just refer to it as "the Deuce". Everyone else calls it "the truck" and one of my nephews calls it "smokeswagon" lol...I told him "smoke wagon" and he said no...smokeswagon...it is smokes' wagon so...made sense I guess. But once its built, it will be called "Highland Animals"
2 gallons in 240 miles? I would have to say thats a tad bit more the a "decent oil leak" . The brakes "putting you throught the dash" is not a statement you will find in the TMs...On this site, people will HARP and harp and harp about brakes my friend. Deuces have a certain notoriety about...
