If the top diaphragm in the tractor protection valve is bad, it will leak air out of the vent cap on the side of the valve when you are pressing the brake pedal. I'm not sure what other leaks you would have if other parts of the valve are bad. There is a rebuild kit for the valve available at...
I'm not sure on that. Releasing (pulling) that valve vents the air from the parking brakes. Once the system has built up pressure and seems fine, are the parking brakes actually released? What happens if you then pull the valve to engage the parking brakes? Normally it would have a short...
The dash valve for the parking brake is spring loaded and will not stay down unless there is sufficient air pressure. That's why it seems OK if you hold it down long enough for the system to build pressure. The parking brakes (spring brakes) require a certain pressure to overcome the springs...
I have thought about some sort of light duty ramps also. For me, I thought about one day getting a dual sport bike that I could take to events in the back of the truck. Also a way to maybe haul an ATV. Like Awesomeness also mentioned, it would be nice in order to make it easy to walk up and...
The item is called a "particulate tube" or something similar in the TM. I don't think they would have added it for EGR purposes as the trucks were produced with an EPA exemption anyway.
Looks like maybe those are brackets that attach to the top corners of the shelter? The two top corners on each side tie down to the center of the bed on the same side; the cables make a V configuration. There must be a piece that goes into the middle stake pocket on each side for the...
Since I don't have a 6x6 I found a few pics online. Can I post pics from GP? Here's a few showing the rear most axle on a 6x6, and there is not much offset for it. Hard to tell but it appears to be angled up.
I was thinking that maybe rather than an offset box, the rearmost axle was angled upwards to help mate with the forward axle. Just a wild guess though.
You could ask Dan about that axle since he sold them. Maybe it's a rearmost axle for a newer 6x6? http://www.steelsoldiers.com/showthread.php?151455-New-FMTV-Meritor-Rear-Rear-Drive-Axle-%282%29
An assortment of standard blade-style automotive fuses might be worthwhile. They fit in the slots where the breakers go. For bad relays, you can swap a relay from a less-critical spot sometimes. I swapped my bad marker lamps relay for the blackout drive relay. Also one point of clarification...
If you have lost fuel prime and need to pump that button on the water separator, keep pumping until it gets tight and then pump it at least 10 more times just to be sure.
Let me know if you find the tie down kit that goes with the LMTV. They make one just for tying down the S-280. Looks like maybe it would bolt in the center of the bed where the center support post normally goes?
Something else to check - make sure the wiper arms themselves are not stripped out and rotating on the splined shafts. That was/is the problem on mine. When I removed the wiper arms to paint them, I noticed the splined shafts on the truck were almost smooth. At first I thought those were...
I think I know the mast you are looking for as I have researched some of them a little, but what is the EMI mesh that you mention? I would love to find a 15m telescoping mast at a good price myself.
Yes that is close. Mine is turning about 2350 at 50MPH, and 2500RPM is 55MPH. That is based on the tach and GPS.
True 1st gear is only accessed by putting the transmission/transfer case into MODE, which you are not supposed to do on hard surfaces. Normally it only goes down to 2nd gear...
