Pick out either the NDCC, or NDT tread type of 700-16 Firestone tires made by Coker or Universal. They are good repro tires that will give your trailer the military look you want, and are made new with todays materials. I have them on my 1/4 Ton M101 CDN2, and they work great!
I'm in the same boat w/ David Kelone. I have been trying for a month now to reach him.
Two voicemails with specific info, and a very detailed email, but no return call, and no reply to the email.
Maybe he's dead?
Cool trailer. Certainly a conversation piece. Now if you could get a de-milled rocket to slide onto the Launcher part of it, how awesonme would that look being towed down the street!
Definately a gateway drug. Because you can't have just one military vehicle.
Absolutely, get the multi-volt LED taillights. They would have been found on these trailers as they got on in years and remained in service, becasue the military continues to update it's equipment with re-builds and...
Unless he bought the truck from someone who did an engine swap?
When you do get back over to the seller, Take pics of the open hood, as well as the interior, and try to remember to take a pic of the data plate inside the cab. You can shoot a PM to Carnac who can tell you the history of the...
Can you post pics? I'd love to see the actual NOS military item and how it looks, since they seem to be rather scarce.
I tried to look up that NSN on GSA, but it returned negative results. I wonder if Carnac has seen these before?
Would love to buy some at Aberdeen.
I recommend an A2. The M35A2 will give you the multifuel engine which is pretty simple in it's design, and can be worked on rather easily. The truck is also not chopped and slapped back together as the A3 is, to accomodate the larger CAT engine. The hood needs to be lengthened, and widened...
DOCUSCG,
That is a great looking trailer you have there, and appears to have been completely refurbished before auction. Definatley a keeper. Even if you never do anything with it, it was saved, and remains clean. A collectible in deed.
I use a 3" rubber pipe cap, with a red Military Aircraft streamer "REMOVE BEFORE FLIGHT", attached to it. It has been well tested during Nor' Easters & Huricane Irene in 60+ mph winds and rain. It doesn't blow off and keeps the stack air tight. Unlike a can, it doesn't blow around making a...
Don't worry about the heater. Once you get moving, these multi-fuels heat up to 180 degrees, and the heat will blow into the cab which will keep your windows clear, and warm your body. Dress warmly regardless, but trust me, I have had my truck for three years and I drive it all year.
I do not...
Stan, I actually did that this year. I agree, it did look goofy draped down over the wheels, and the way it was secured in this years parade really did look better. Only problem is, I can't seem to locate the pic.
The newer Grote LEDs, will have a resister built into the light assembly to simulate the load required to make the flasher unit function properly. It was discovered when Trucklite, first introducd the product on the HMMWV. Grote, took the bugs out and gave the lens a bit of a re-design.
Grote...
A friend stopped by to take measurements which in turn were given to a local graphic company to make a banner for our Memorial Day Parade. I think that will be your best bet.
Here are the pics:
Standard military wiring is 14 guage, and the new stuff being employed for the LED lights is 16 guage. The 14 Ga, is good for 12 or 24 volt, and even better for LEDs. The 16 was used for the low amp draw on the LED, and saves money, that's why it is used now.
Great job on the restoration! I...
Can anyone else verify this number on the underside of their M101 CDN 2, 1/4 ton Canadian MIlitary Trailer?
I found it stamped under the left side steel plate, which is mounted above the leaf spring and connects to the spring hanger bushing. It faces down, and is read as if the trailer was...
I know this is a bit dated, but I was recently speaking with some folks who suggested that, if you have a trailer with 3 or 4 digit serial numbers, then try and combine them on the end of the NSN #.
Every NSN, is specific to a piece of equipment, and they are all 13 digits. Add the 3 or 4 digit...
The Trucklite bracket you have in the pic above is what I used to mount mine. I located a hole on the first cross member under the e radiator to secure it to, and then did the same on the rear. I secured it to the back cross member next to the pintle hook.
