love this function ["New Posts"] - it's where I go first too. However ( I know - here it comes...)
...... since the far right column IS the "forum" column, does each entry have to have "forum" as well as the "5 ton... conversation" etc?
Quickly looking at that column is a little slowed...
try following this thread..

that didn't work!!! >: <
try this...
Split shifting a 813
Lever installed
Pics of lever extension in place. Transfer lever drilled and tapped so nothing sticks through and no nuts on back side.
.... and just to add that this was a regular mod on the Australian Armys' M816s with various knobs or 'T' handles.
may have to take truck for an illicit...
I think a little more info is needed... Where is "delta", ride in a what exactly, purpose of the trip, duration and what is expected of said 'brave soul'.... Hold your hand, split drive the "Challenger"(??). fix what ever is at the other end, make sandwiches, need a CDL, passport...
Tech savvy Guineapig wanted for transfer lever extension test.
My 816 is not "on the road" at present so I am looking for someone who can road test my prototype and report back with relatively precise info so I can then finalise production of said lever extension. I am happy with it's "drive...
Aussie M816 at Tank Museum Puckapunyal.
I have a load of black knobs and could make a batch of transfer lever extensions like this but tidier. Anyone interested?
[Not posting in Classifieds yet as I have nothing to sell at this point - just testing the water!]
what if.........
Not going to get into the neuter or not to neuter argument, (oops, maybe I just did :D) but...
IF you want a big 4x4 to perform like a 6x6 off road AND have the technical fortitude and opportunity, you would have to (ballast the rear and) articulate the front and rear behind...
Having to side pull - self recovery
That is where you get out your 10 lb sledge hammer (BII) and hammer in the ground anchors for a straight pull back to the road/hard surface.... wait, OH NO!, ground anchors got dropped from the BII before the 816, woe is me, what is one to do???
I guess...
Front bumper/winch side pull
I can expand on the bumper brackets idea if you need - I think added lift/tow shackle mounts mounted on the bottom would make an obvious start point - good in both tension and compression, where as the ground spade pockets only work in compression since the pin...
Locker mats
Have a roll of ex gravel bank conveyor belt kicking around so I cut a few mats for the tool boxes/lockers so the heavy BII doesn't smash around, especially as I have just painted some of them...
empty locker
holes punched for body bolts, cut corners so fingers can remove mats...
Plan 'A'??
Ok, I HAVEN'T BEEN TO THE TRUCK YET!, but this is an initial thought after looking at the TM over breakfast.
... after this weekend is over, I'll pull stuff apart to see if this is a go.
AARRON - mine are all siezed too, so I imagine there will be some pressing involved. If...
Has anyone made any mods to the side roller top bolt plate to allow or stop collection of water?
I think a plastic cap would work but a little flimsy for the location with all the 'action' and heavy traffic that area receives...
Possible a groove in the underside of the square bolt plate???
Hey T1F4S7WE6P7 etc etc etc.... !!! If you get your new green toy before next weekend (3/4 Nov) you are welcome to head West about 1 hr and join our weekend of mud playing etc. An annual Land Rover do, but ExMil vehs and a couple of local Jeepers welcome too. I suppose I'll have to get the...
Anyone considered fitting or has fitted a bypass oil filter to a 5 ton?
I did find a thread from '06 but it was on Deuce Mods.
I came across a pic of the Austalian Army's M816's and they had them installed outside the hood, on the fender behind the aircleaner.
There was also...
More chains
Update on the chains..
Found #1 and 1/0 double twist chain at another Tractor Supply today. #1 is used on the Glad Hand covers, size 1/0 is too big.
Could not find the 'L' Pin chains for the Stabiliser legs, but they should be Machine Straight or Coil Twist #1 - I have twist on...
I have started to analyse all the different chains used on my M816 as some are missing and others just need replacing.
Managed to find the first few at Tractor Supply, so I have listed/pictured them below for anyone else that needs replacements - by the foot!
Drg...
