Be sure to adjust the valves a couple times after the rebuild. I rebuilt mine this year with new pistons, liners and new heads. After I re-torqued my heads, I found the valves were tighter. I would adjust them after you re-torque the heads and again maybe a couple hundred miles later as well...
I do not have the original pin because that one broke when I first used the winch... it broke just pulling my truck. I replaced it with a grade 2 bolt. It is not correct but I also use my head when I use the winch. When i have and sliver of doubt, I always use the snatch block. Its big and heavy...
Thank you for the compliments. The most important thing is prep work. A good pressure wash and then grinding away flaking paint and taking a DA sander to all the flat surfaces helps exfoliate the oxidized paint and helps the new stuff attach. I used Rapco 383 Green, then painted 383 brown and...
Masking off the glass makes things easier. Other than that, not much else. Ok, stuff like the slave cable port/cap, solar battery charger, light lenses, etc. Head lights are so easy to remove it just easier taking them out and putting tape over the ends of the wires. You are right though, paint...

Can I use an air system diagram of an M818 and use that as a reference to install mine?
I recently got a trailer brake control valve from an M931A2 and would like to put it on my M35A2 so I can manually apply trailer brakes. They also call these a Johnny Bar, Johnson Bar, etc. It had 3 lines coming out of the back and I was curious where they need to be routed to. One of the ports...
I like to adjust the valves and see where they are at. Pushing down with a wood block is only going to cause clearance at one end or another... like a teeter totter (spelling?). its the cheapest thing you can do and a good PM activity.
I had the same results with the 5 horsepower IR compressor of my dad's... my MEP-002A didnt like it either... it just grunted and flipped the switch quick to shut it off. Worth a try! My compressor now is a 1.5 horse on an 80 gallon tank. It should run that fine. Yes, the compressor takes...
