Piston Rings Worn Out, Time for a Rebuild

They won't come out the bottom because the crankshaft is in the way and the piston oil squirters. If I pull the Pistons out its going to be about $200 right off the bat by the time I buy new head gaskets, intake/exhaust gaskets and pan gasket. That is why I am really trying to think this through...

Piston Rings Worn Out, Time for a Rebuild

i have taken it out and driven it pretty hard. my EGT's get up there around 1150 and I dont want to go hotter. About 2000 miles and they still dont seat? That would be nuts. I would love to find somebody that put these pistons in their engine to see their results. I have thought about this day...

Piston Rings Worn Out, Time for a Rebuild

I never took the rings off the new pistons. I was not sure of the orientation (top of bottom, I'm not talking about clocking them). They should have been set from the factory with the correct side up. I mean why would they install them upside down? It makes no sense. I did though clock the...

Piston Rings Worn Out, Time for a Rebuild

I believe LDS-465-2 Pistons are 5 rings. Cranetruck posted something back a long time ago showing them. It has about as much blow by as it did before I rebuilt it... more than any other deuces I have seen, especially since I rebuilt the thing.

Piston Rings Worn Out, Time for a Rebuild

I did not hone the liners. I read the TM and did not see anywhere where it said to do that. They were smooth and had the cross hatch and looked good. Regular Rotella T oil (white jug) and 2 new spin on filters. I didn't have a dyno to put the engine on, so I just took it down the highway...

Piston Rings Worn Out, Time for a Rebuild

Another note, My rear main started leaking and now my clutch is slipping. So it is time for a new clutch now. Not fun. I also checked my oil pressure last night with a mechanical gauge and i have about 17-18 PSI at hot idle. I used to have a lot more when I bought the truck. So my thought with...

Piston Rings Worn Out, Time for a Rebuild

I pulled the compressor belt off last night and started the engine so that the air compressor would not run. It still had blowby, so it is not the compressor causing the blowby.

Piston Rings Worn Out, Time for a Rebuild

Piston Rings Worn Out, Time for a Rebuild

The rings were installed on the pistons when I got them. I never took them off.

Piston Rings Worn Out, Time for a Rebuild

We did a cooling system pressure test to 7 PSI (rated cap pressure) and it did not drop at all.... so the cooling system is tight. I added more coolant and it has not dropped, so I think I might be ok now... it was just thirsty or maybe it was seeking its own level. I think my cooling system is...

    Flat towing a LMTV ?

I just wanted to say that I like that you don't have a filter here and didn't sugar coat anything. :-D

New Member, New M105 Trailer, Lessons Learned

Can't run Indy 500 with these things. I get nervous with my oil filtering system in the back and sloshing. I want to switch out to M211 wheels (when I find some) so it gives it a little wider stance.

Fuel leak from flame heater pump

Do you notice that it helps a lot? I don't notice much of a difference when I use mine. I made a small tank for mine that I put diesel in so that it does not pull WMO/gas/diesel from my fuel tank for the heater. Everything on mine works, ignition system, pump and nozzle. When i crank it over and...

    Air Compressor Leakdown Test

I just gutted an old injector and welded up the high pressure port and used the return port to get pressure readings. I am wondering how i can do a leak down test of my air compressor though. I didnt know if anybody has done them in the past. Just thinking, how else would you test a compressor...

    Air Compressor Leakdown Test

I have been chasing a blowby issue coming out of my slobber tube for a while. I did a compression test on the engine and all of the cylinders read about 340 PSI, which I think is ok...l since I rebuilt the engine with new pistons, sleeves, rings and NOS heads. So I am doubting if the blowby is...

Air compressor TM...Is there such a beast..?

I am trying to find the cause of a blowby issue i seem to be chasing. I just rebuild my engine with new pistons, sleeves, rings and NOS heads. I cant for the life of me figure out where it is coming from. I am wondering if my rings are bad and I'm having blowby on the compressor.

Piston Rings Worn Out, Time for a Rebuild

Well, its been about 3 months since I got the rebuild done and I'm not completely satisfied. New pistons, rings, sleeves, NOS heads, New style head gaskets and I still have blow-by coming out of my slobber tube. I also have some thick grease looking stuff on the bottom of my oil fill cap and...
