If it is gray in color that is most likely water contamination. Your rubbing/ grinding noise is most likely from a wore out U-joint. Eather in the axle shaft knuckle. Or the drive shaft. I would also check the check the slip yoke in the front drive shaft for excessive slop or play. With the...
Hey Mike Thanks. Yea I told my dad to keep a eye out for it. Maybe we will see it on the trail to Crown King. Hope fully I won't have too much trouble.
I'm driving a truck my dad wants out to him. Leaving Sat the 24th. I'll be running IH-10. I've gone through it pretty well and should not have too much trouble. But if I do, I would be grateful for any assistance.
Yes you are straight on. 14 and lower would be your best bet. I installed a GM5 from Hughes in AZ on my TH400. It has a 1100 stall. It works perfect. Lots of power to the ground, right off of idle.
If your keeping the 6.2/6.5 use the stock Diesel converter for the 700r4. The turbo 400 used a 1400 stall. I would think the 700R4 would be the same. The engine makes its max torque around 1600. So if you go higher than that you will miss out on power.
Why would you want a high stall converter for a daily driver? Are you drag racing? Not to mention your have a good chance of getting 3 or 4 MPG. A 3K stall would make the over drive about useless. You would be around 3K in 3rd and 4th gear at the same speed. Unless you were doing 85MPH in high...
The dowl pin was probally the only thing keeping everything spinning together. I would have to give GM kudos for this one. They make really strong dowl pins!!!!!!!! But as far as the bolts go. Someone in a motor pool somewhere left them out. There isn't enough room for them to back all the way...
I would start looking at the grounds first. A lot of electrical problems on these come from bad grounds. Disconnect the batteries first. So you don't fry your smart box. Then clean the grounds on the back of the engine and the wire that goes from there, to the firewall by the fuel filter. Along...
Yea I'm thinking at this point it's time to replace the injectors. Water in the fuel may have been the straw that broke the camel's back. After all, they are at least 20 years old. You really can't go by mileage with a Humvee. They may have spent a lot of time in the woods in low gear. Where it...
A ten mile run probally used about a gallon. Do you have a laser thermometer? You can check each exhaust port to see if any of them are running cooler at idle. If so, you may have a dribbling injector. If it was full on sticking the engine would have a miss. As a last ditch before you pull...
In the Duece section we have a spread sheet. It has helped me a lot over the years. If we had one for Humvees we could save a lot of time and money. If someone has already spent the time digging through the manual and knows a part number the next guy might save hours searching. It might also...
If you look at the top of the HMMWV forum in the stickey section there is a LEO-Part Number check list. If you would, please post the numbers you used there. It will help others looking. There a few civi part numbers in there others have used. It's helped me already.
