I replaced my 6.2 with a GEP6.5 NA. IMHO there is a big difference in noise. Mine too is louder when cold. Most likely fuel not burning completely from lack of heat. But once it gets hot it is smoother and quieter than my GM6.5 in my CUCV. Don't get me wrong. It isn't close to gasoline...
I fought this myself a few years ago. After replacing everything possible in the front axle I still had the pulling to the right. Turns out the passenger side rear leaf spring bushing was bad. This allowed the rear axle in the passenger side to move forward and made the truck pull to the right...
Yes you can. What cylinder is it? Is it on the drivers side? Do you have enough room to drill and tap a 1/8 NPT pipe plug and then just install a plug?
The reason for the cooler locations is the engine oil needs to be cooler. At normal operating temps the "hot" side of the rad is 195 deg. So the fluid should be held to 195. This is no problem for a TH400. The easiest way to lower this temp is to install a 180 Thermostat on the engine. . You...
I replaced mine about 6 months ago. I had the newer one with the canceling ring. It failed. I replaced it with the older style I just removed the hose clamp and used the screws to attach it. It works great and matches the ones on my M35 and M37. I'm still young enough to turn it off by myself. LOL.
TCM was my typo. I should have typed TDM for time delay module. The little black box by the caddy valve. You are correct the transmission control has nothing to do with it.
Normally when a 6.2 blows a head gasket or cracks a head/block you will get steam and water droplets dripping from the exhaust. If you let it get to 240 you would have had bubbles in the system. Coolant would have boiled in the block. NEVER trust a military gauge. They will lie to you! Yes some...
Ok then it is highly likely that switch is bad. We know the fan clutch and Cadillac valve are working. So that switch and or the TCM module will most likely need to be replaced.
Yep the white smoke is unburnt fuel. No bigge most like likely a bad or going bad glow plug. Does you fan kick on when you un plug the switch mounted on the drivers side cross over just before the thermostat? unplugging this switch will kick the fan on. The oil leak at the gasket is very...
Wow Steve, how did you break the leg? That bumper looks pretty cool. The truck looks like it's sitting low in the front. Is it super heavy? I like it, it gives the truck a awesome look.
Oh yea I almost forgot you mentioned 3/8 threads. They are actually metric threads. They are 10mmX 1.0 pitch. You would also need a bottoming tap for this.
Yes Harbor Freight will have it. They also have a small magnet on a stick that you can fish around in there to get smaller pieces that you may not know or can see in there. If you can find the right size tap to clean the threads go for it. Or get a round wire brush for your drill and spin it in...
I agree with Carrera 911. I leave the cap off, fill the tank, then start the engine with the heater valve on. The air will come out of the engine first. Then the rad after the thermostat opens. Air will also be pushed out of both as you add the coolant. You can add 2 gallons at a time slowly...
I suggest getting what is called a "EASY OUT" Although they are not that easy. A good auto parts store should carry these. If not find a machine shop supply near you. What you will do is drill a smaller hole into the bad glow plug. Then you tap the easy out into the hole. Then you turn it to...
