Main shaft removal - output bearing

Mine was pretty loose. When it was that far out I was able to “shake”/pull my main shaft back and it slide the rest of the way out, again it was a loose fit for mine

Main shaft removal - output bearing

I think I used a wooden dowel rod and a hammer from the inside. My bearing came out VERY easily with just a few good taps.

New to me Deuce with matching trailer - wrenching post

All I can point out is that my truck usually idles around 270* when first started. When I come home after a drive it’s usually 340* coming down the driveway at a few MPH’s. I then let idle to under 300* to cool down before I shut down. I run a custom mix of wmo and I know for sure it raises...

I want to know the location, because Ive never seen a vehicle sit outside that long and not rust, at all. Seems hard to believe. And why register and plate it if sitting for 40yrs unknown?

    M35A2 has been sitting for 40+ years…

I offered half that for my first one; it had been sitting for some years also. He accepted, and I already have about twice that into it and haven’t even touched half of it

    Pyrometer install

Pricey little gauges! Nice! Start it up, drill, and tap away. Wear some safety glasses because debris will fly.

Engine repair or swap to LDS?

I use a degreaser as the final wipe down anyways, and that has always done the trick. I’m sure you know, but plenty of assembly lube for the final install! As for lube, I like the red “ultra slick”

Engine repair or swap to LDS?

I’ve never added lube of any sort when using plastigauge. The plasti will squish out as designed, IMO.

    Please don’t say head gasket…

I checked the torque after making a tool; all seemed to be good there. It seems to still seep some oil from the back area. Coolant is not dropping, and the power still seems to be there. I have everything ready to check compression; so maybe some day I’ll get around to that; as a just in case
