Maybe you could drill a hole in it and insert an expandable wedge anchor, Like you would use on concrete. Then use your slide hammer on that to pull it out.
Call me crazy. But I think if a high bidder defaults on an auction, and he is a dead beat bidder. They should treat it like he never existed, and his bids don't count. The sale would go the true high bidder, without the default bidders run-up price. Top bid would be between the last two, true...
Almost all steel wheels (factory and aftermarket) are just welded in.
Judging by the diameter of his center insert (11") thats 34 1/2" of continuous weld. And he did both sides, so thats more that 69" of weld to hold the centers in. Thats a lot of weld strengh. Hopefully he v-groved them...

It's hard to say for sure or not. There is sufficient room between the steering wheel and my legs, but your alot taller than me. I would think that if a heaver person sat in the seat, that the springer base would compress more than if I was sitting in it. Which would equal more clearance room...
