I'm wanting to start on the 12 volt system soon, and I'm thinking of how I want to rig up trailer lights in 12v for civvy trailers.
I was thinking of splicing into the respective electrical circuits and just running a bank of relays to switch 12V power to the appropriate wires. Also will need...
I like it back in the truck, Bjorn.
It looks like the light on the bumper was a very quick afterthought following vehicle development, as I'm sure the shadow was a "problem" perceived by the US.
It seems to me that the lights on the bumper would be MUCH more prone to getting damaged/destroyed...
RE: My Bolster M969
How did the deuce do with the trailer? I hear they're kinda heavy and were originally issued with a 5-ton. I'd imagine empty, it shouldn't be too much heavier than a 105 or a 332.
Lax:
The one I rebuilt was a plastic unit, and it was very simple. I used WD40 for part of the reassembly process to clean up and get oil in places the air-tool oil wouldn't go easily. Worked great.
Spruce:
It's certainly not bad at all, like gimpy said.
Remove the motor from the vehicle, and you should only need a #2 phillips to take it apart.
I reassembled it with some general purpose grease on the gears and o-rings, then lubed the cylinder with plain air-tool oil. The motor that was...
I need a broken deuce air wiper motor (actually, all I need is the wiper arm rod). While re-installing my motors after cleaning/rebuilding them, I torqued the wiper arm nut too tight and broke it off the actuator rod. It's actually soldered on right now (all I had at the time!), and it's...
Definitely a bad battery. Got a new one from Wal-Mart and all issues solved. Cleaned up the cables and re-soldered the connections, made all the difference in the world. I don't think I've heard the in-tank pump as high-pitched as it is now! :P
I've got the Air-o-Matic...
After owning a deuce for a little over a month, I gotta say I'll never own another one without it! Steering is about like my old F-150 (98) at speed. I agree on the turning while stopped, though. Little tough, but it doesn't take much movement to get those wheels turned.
Got the dying battery problem solved.
When I would pull the tray to charge the batteries, the bad one would always be covered in water. I had figured it was just water dripping from somewhere in the truck; out of curiosity, I wiped the water off and tried to start the truck. The battery started...
Ok...
I've isolated the batteries for charging each time I have to charge them. Each time, the single battery continues to drain more than the other.
The jumper wire needs replaced, regardless. Jake, as you pointed out, there should be no resistance to current flow, so there is a problem...
My deuce seems to like the rear battery more than the front...
I replaced the 6TL's with some off-the-shelf Everstarts. Not going to be fording, so I'm not too worried about their performance. They crank the truck just fine.
However, my Generator is out (I think), and the truck REALLY draws...
