Updates 1/22/08 - Did some more painting and new reflectors/tape. I also added a cold weather front (plywood), and the brush guard is off for sanding/painting right now.
My radiator has a leak around the top of the vent tube(?) that goes from the top tank to the filler neck.
Any problems in just soldering this? It's a very small leak, and I only noticed it because there was some coolant dripping on the brush guard (one or two drops). I've not noticed it...
Yes, used spray cans all around.
It's Krylon Camouflage green with Krylon red metal primer. Both primer and paint are about $4.50 a can. It's an enamel, so it's really tough. The wheels have been painted a month; no chipping or peeling, so far.
After bouncing some ideas off a friend of mine, I had mentioned I wanted to do a dual volt system (12 and 24 volt).
I told him there are three ways to go about doing it - 12V or dual-volt alternator, 24 to 12 converter and just tapping off one battery and hoping for the best.
I told him i...
1971 AM General M35A2 *6/16/10*
Purchased from Maddawg and Rob in October. 2 new batteries and haven't looked back since.
I drove it 330 miles home with no problems at all! Since then I've been doing a lot of lubing, checking, changing and cleaning. Yes, I know the reflectors aren't the...
My truck, too, had the 4th and 5th gear slippage for about 3-400 miles after I bought it, and it's gone away as well. I wonder if oil really does slip past the seals and end up on the clutch. Before I couldn't give it more than half throttle past 3rd gear, now full throttle all the way and no...
My mistake. I seem to recall reading somewhere that the Deuce didn't have a thermostat. Must have misread whatever it was.
I've got some plywood left from building a trailer for my stepson's go-kart this weekend, so looks like I'm going to measure out and build a cover.
Bjorn, how are you...
Well, after driving the Deuce in both warm and colder weather, it's near impossible to get it warmed past 160* on the temp gauge.
I seem to recall reading somewhere about a thermostat for the deuce, but I haven't been able to find a working part number. Anyone have a model that will work for...
I'm not sure what the straps look like, but I do know that Tractor Supply carries black "Luggage Straps" that are pretty close to the military counterpart for Gerry Cans and Pioneer tool racks. If the strap for the ammo can is similar, it may be worth checking out. I just picked up a 5' black...
Well, the thing is, the truck is going to see way more use with Civvy trailers than with Military trailers. I want something more permanent than something plug-in. Not to mention, the truck is getting 12V system separate for 12V cab functions, plus auxiliary lighting, and a brake control for...
Why too much for an unloaded Deuce? Gets a tendency to push the truck around or what?
Great looking trailer; I was looking to get one from that auction, but I didn't have a guaranteed truck at that time and was unsure when I would get one. They went CHEAP!
