And tried out my camera mount. It told me two things: I need to try it out in the daylight tomorrow before 6:00, and I need a new camera with better resolution and sound.
Off-road to come soon. 8)

Really, I've not done much sanding other than to take the oxidation and dirt off the finish. Then I just primer & paint and it's a really tough finish. Granted, the brush strokes from the underlying coats show through when you get up close to it, but I don't really care about that -- I don't...
Small update 2/6/08:
New coat of paint on the taillights, made a simple digital camera mount and took some pictures from it, and took a picture of the painted stack.
RE: Muffler Mod
I think a big portion of the enjoyment of this modification is in the change of pitch.
The "C" turbo still spools and whistles quite nicely, but not at near the same ear-piercing level as before. I actually thought I broke my turbo somehow because it wasn't screaming from the...
Add me to the list of people who have done this mod.
The sound is great - I can hear myself talk in the cab, and the turbo sounds much more aggressive. Exhaust sound is very big-rig, and the difference is open headers vs. nice magnaflow as far as I'm concerned.
HIGHLY recommended.
Napa muffler today. 8)
Took about 30 minutes, and only because of rust on the old bolts and a cheap hacksaw.
SOOO much quieter.
Also bondo'd some of the fender holes after cleaning out the rust (last week).
Great looking 4 door!
My wife and I had a black Rubicon for a few months before we decided it wouldn't be a good vehicle with the baby. I miss that thing!
Small update:
Repaired a pinhole in the vent tube of the radiator, bought oil filters to do an oil change soon, bondo'd the passenger fender (rust holes); I don't have anything to do sheet metal patchwork. They were small holes anyways.
I also ordered the Napa muffler for this weekend.
RE: Don
She and a friend saw me driving in it last weekend with the big yellow plate on the front of the truck and her friend asked what was with the wal-mart smiley face on my truck. She explained (I'm proud of her for knowing this!) what a bridge plate is to her friend, but said yeah, it...
I'm contemplating doing some brake work this weekend, and I wanted to get an idea of whether or not I need it.
Brakes are nice and firm, and have no problem with locking up the rears or coming to an emergency stop.
However, as the weather has gotten colder, the pedal must travel much further...
I've got mine registered with weighted plates. There aren't any restrictions put on where to keep the vehicle/how to keep it or how much I can use it. They're not very expensive; 16K plates only ran me about $60 with wheel tax.
As far as complications getting the tags, I just walked in, then...
Mike, the truck was actually like that (albeit it was very faded and lots had chipped off). You could see the tape lines, and I just re-taped along those lines to give the effect you see.
And thanks for the complements on the paint job. It's not THAT good, though. When you're up close, you...
