What did you do to your deuce this week?

Started her after a long-long winters nap-two new batteries she started up after two 20 second crank sessions. 2 hours to inspect everything-then drove her 10 minutes up around the town common. My speedo doesn't work, an issue that popped up end of last year, completely forgot about it, so need...

What did you do to your deuce this week?

When installed they all will point in the same direction. If a lug nut started to loosen the wheel check is the indicater as it will start to point in a different direction from the rest. Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk

Leaking Transfer Case - Best Kits for Repair

Not on a th400/np208 combo, but I have seen them crack on ones with the 205 cast iron cases. So completely plausible it could happen on any combination of drivetrain components. I have heard of the th400 case bell-housing cracking more often. Maybe you should check yours carefully now? I bet...

What have you done to your CUCV today/lately - Part 2

Some of the newer leds are dimmable, and some newer leds will also work with older flasher units to eliminate the fast blink. 16.5" tires are hard to find anywhere unless you get surplus hmmwv tires(which are bigger at 36/37"), but I've heard supplies of those are diminishing as well.

Leaking Transfer Case - Best Kits for Repair

GM specified ATF (per factory service manuals) in the 205 from 88 to 91, the 205 was rare to find in these years as the 208 and np241 came out(the 241 in right hand drop was just as rare). But gear oil is the better choice IMHO. Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk

What OEM 16" Wheels Will Properly Fit the M1009 (From Any Make or Model), If Any???

The problem with these year vehicles is the hub bore diameter-stock is 4.280 inches, a wheel with a 4.250" bore will fit, but is tight. Any newer GMC/Chevy(1988 and newer) will not fit because the hub bore is only 3.325"(if I recall right) Toyota uses the same bore and stud spacing as the...

How much paint?? M35 2-1/2 ton

Yup, Air Force color, my M35 was originally Air Force, figured as a gasser and Air Force it would be OK to be different. Break up the o.d. Parades and shows a little bit. Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk

What did you do to your deuce this week?

If at any point it's been crushed-it becomes difficult to install. The local hardware store should have compression fitting and the correct ferrules. I like to grab extra ferrules and keep them on a shelf just for instances like this. Using drill bits and going up in size can sometimes open...

How much paint?? M35 2-1/2 ton

Cool, Thanks guys, I was kind of thinking I would need at least 4 gallons; at least I should be able to do most of the truck, if I have to get another gallon to finish-say the bed, that wont be the worst thing. Another thing-Is there another place I could get Gillespie Paint in Strata Blue? It...

How much paint?? M35 2-1/2 ton

Hi all, really simple question, looking for an estimate of paint volume to paint an M35, frame axles, bed, pretty much everything. I will likely be able to remove fenders, hood, doors, bumpers, bed, but I will likely leave the cab in place, wheels may need to stay in place to paint...

What have you done to your CUCV today/lately - Part 2

I found 99.999999% of parts store people don't realize what they have behind the desk-windshield wiper hose is the same as the rubber vacuum hose- it is cut to length as it normally comes in a 25 or 50ft roll. But at least it seems to be vacuum related, and not a bigger issue. Sent from my...

    CUCV Arctic Grille Front

I did see the install pages, but in my opinion the pics aren't good enough, it gave me a general idea for the top snaps, but the bottom tie backs still confuse me; mainly the outer ones-the holes I see in my radiator support seem way to far to the outside. It is possible my support doesn't have...

    CUCV Arctic Grille Front

The three snaps under hood, I think I know location they would be used, but would like to verify, and how the bottom attaches The Arctic cover does block a lot of airflow, all right if you see lots of 20F and under, having someway to either roll it up or open a flap for more airflow as weather...

    CUCV Arctic Grille Front

I have little money right now, plenty of material, and I currently have time to do so. I need to make other custom interior pieces for various vehicles, so because of the simple design I figure it would give me good practice in prep for those pieces.

    CUCV Arctic Grille Front

Hi all, working on a truck that I would like to put a front grille cover on for the winter months. I have lots of canvas material and an industrial sewing machine. All I need are the outer dimensions of the cover, this way I can leave material where the slave plug and blackout lamp are and...

What did you do to your deuce this week?

If it's been sitting, could be rings, or just a little gummed up, my deuce gasser the first few times I had her going down the road-would not want to climb any sort of incline, fell on its face. A couple more runs and now she only slows down on the steepest/longest inclines. Sent from my...

M1009 Tie rod bar conversion using dana 60 parts

Off road design, they have several options for hd steering linkage, might be the thing to invest in if you do more off-roading. Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk

Has anyone converted a 6.2 into a turbo charged unit?

    1. Even with a turbo you most likely won't see above 225hp 2. Adding a turbo increases power/torque, and that will provide a little extra acceleration speed, A stock 6.2 only really made about 160hp, 6.5 only a little better at about 180. Adding a turbo really only provides another 50 hp. I...

Has anyone converted a 6.2 into a turbo charged unit?

I think all he is trying to do is convert an non turbo hmmwv to a turbo hmmwv, I think that would be in the realm of this forum. True he wanted to do it the difficult way, but hopefully he sees the light and realizes it will be cheaper and faster to just get the right parts up front. Some things...
