Uniflite was the company that produced them for the Navy, and was sold in the 80's to Cris Craft. I understand that there were quite a few on the West Coast after the war, but I don't know if thety are still around.
There is a way to make your own adapter so you do not have to re-wire your intervehicular cable. But...
You will need to change the bulbs out to 12 volt.
You need a 12 pin female end to plug into the cable, and splice in a 4 pin or 7 pin round plug to complete the connection.
I had a female...
That's a good shot of us on the bridge No. 2, right before the big accident.
It was a lot of fun convoying through the city, and the 60 PSI on the way home was truly better than bouncing all over the roadway. Ha Ha.
I know how you feel. Congrats on the new aquisition.
I too, bought a trailer first. Mine was Canadian.
It just led me to buy a Duece.
Your second pic looks like a Duece bumper. I see the trailer was a HQ vehicle, but can't make out the number, unless the T 55 in the other pic is it.
You can buy the New 5200 series yellow zinc padlocks, on eBay.
Cut off the old ones, and replace.
I know of no source to find the correct key.
I bought 6 locks from an eBay seller, all with the same letter codes. All were keyed different.
You will save a lot of time and effort, replacing them.
My diesel mechanic told me that you should change oil every 100 hours. I will be changing mine in October, along with all the filters.
I figure once a year will be a good gage. I've only put on 2K miles and no where close to 100 hrs.
The kit that Dabtl has a pic of is the New style horn button. It comes in a Kit from Saturn, NOS.
I suggest getting a new horn wire lead as well and replacing it.
It is a very easy replacement.
Remove old horn button, and throw away!
Tie the new wire lead to the old, and pull it through from...
The truck really came out very nice.
I like the Fiberglass troop seats which I just got done installing on mine. Do you have an axe for your pioneer rack?
I noticed that you used the same dash light covers on all 4 dash lights. The ones with the hole in the middle to see that they are on...
Well we're all painted!
Bumper marks are gone...
Both sides of the hood, inside the doors & map box have the truck serial #
Fuel tank, battery box, driver's door air tank drain reminder and TPs are all on in flat black.
Truck looks great!
maybe in the future I will add some bumpr marks, but...
Nice!
I think I'm going to go get some High Temperature Aeroquip hose.
All I need is 12", cut in half to fit those two spots. Then I won't need to be worried about them. Really though the only concern is the turbo return line.
Thanks for the input.
That's where my head was. I wanted the truck to be all 383, to match my trailer.
Since an all green truck would have been a darker OD, with white letters, and this making it the VN era, I didn't want to put white letters and VN era markings on it.
I also didn't want it to look like it was...
Thanks for the great input!
My Canadian 1/4 ton trailer was never issued, so it did not get assigned to a unit and had no markings on it at all. Even internet searches couldn't help me locate info on markings, so I chose to not add any US, or CDN.
That said, I did add the No STEP, and TP30 to...
Sorry about the pic, but it didn't come out as I wanted it to. Anyway the arrow points to the top hose, which is the same hose used for the turbo. They both need to replaced with the correct Braided type.
I have replaced the cooling return hose that runs from my turbo back into the oil pan.
It is the same hose that connects the blowby vent on top of the head that sends the gasses down to the street.
They were old braided type hose that were painted when the block was re-built in 1986. I wanted...
For those of you that have restored your trucks...
Did you mark your bumpers with the same markings that came on the truck whether you bought from GL, or private?
Or
Did you mark your truck with another units identification? Ie, your units ID if you were in the service.
Or
Did you make your...
