Here are some shots of the Buyers hitch I mentioned on Page 1. I did make some modifications to give me the right drop, and this is how it looks now.
It tows well, and is plenty strong.
I have singled Firestone T831s, direct from the Military that came on my truck. The truck's unit had TP-50 stenciled on it. I increased it to TP60, and find that it rides very smooth with little to no bounce empty, and still is good on fuel economy. Here is a pic
I then just move my Buyers pintle mount with the Receiver adapter, and USGI MUTT Chain plate onto the duece from my other vehicles, and can tow the M101 CDN2 without issue.
I fabricated one too.
Mine is a Buyers, which I bought only because all my other hitch assemblies were Buyers. ( I wanted to stay with the same brand name) I actually had mine cut, and made new sideplates that were welded on and gave me the appropriate drop that I required to tow a Military 1/4...
I've been gone for a bit, but thank you again for all the compliments.
The Fuel Can is plastic, made by Scepter Canada, in their Drab Green. Now, they are almost impossible to find! Current USGI & NATO issue.
The paint is Omni Coatings from PPG, and is a polyeurethane flat Military 383 green...
You can see some good pics below:
Pioneer Tool Rack and Tools
The problem with the pioneer tools is that the racks were designed for US spec dimensions and a lot of tools now are made in China, and are not the correct measurements. You can put whatever tools you want in the rack since nothing...
My truck has a two cylinder compressor. When I first bought it, and up to recently before, the air govenor on my truck would pop, a few minutes after shut down.
It turned out that my glad hands were leaking, and caused a lot of air dump, signaling the compressor to start pumping. Since getting...
You only need one United State Flag.
There is no reason to fly two. Remember the flag should be the Focal point and prominent from everything else. Two is just too many!
Right front fender, while any other flag flown should be on the left front fender.
It really was great day! Looking forward to next year. It would be nice to have a lot more vehicles.
For ayone reading and thinking 'OMG driving in NYC!' Well don't get scared. It really isn't a big deal at all.
We mangaed to traverse midtown, the west side, the east side, and across town...
The 1st four of when I started the resto.
The 2nd is how it came out.
There are also two additions...
1) New fiberglass side racks/ troop seats
2) Wheels painted green to match rest of truck.
Good news! There is a mount, and I was able to secure one.
It is a NATO mount and this one is from Canada (part of the Iltis 4x4 Utility Truck catalog).
It fits the USGI Convoy/ Armor Signal Flag Attachment MC-270. Same as all the other NATO countries.
The NSN is 2590-12-176-1082 & 1083.
82 is...
So I have the 1/4 ton trailer M101 CDN2. I've seen reference to the M104 CDN3.
Curious as to what the CDN designations mean in the canadian military.
CDN 2 vs CDN 3, and why is the M104 follwed by CDN 3 and the M101 is followed by the CDN 2?
Is it only the trailers that have this CDN...

I know this is an old thread, but I wanted to add some info. the flag attachment is:
NSN 8345-00-242-3650
It has an alt. # of MC-270, which is the attachment used in the signal flag kit M238, for tanks.
Anyway, here is a pic of the flag staff. I have not been able to find if there was or is a...
