I don't know now come to think of it whether or not the troop seats and the headrack uprights have the same dimensions, but Height I know is the same.
This is the fiberglass headrack upright posts:
38" high
2 3/4" wide
1 1/4 " deep
Maybe the Height of the whole rack is 1/8" higher.
On larger boats it is necessary to water the batteries. The TL6 from interstate have 6 cells to access. When I first placed my Batts into the truck, I made sure the cells were all filled.
Does the duece charging system dry up the cells, calling for more water to be added, and could this be one...
Yep, everything is better now!
I went through while I had a minute to myself, and tightened up all the hose clamps, and the problem was that the hoses have shrunk a bit and the clamps weren't as tight as they were when I first changed them.
Re-positioned the tube for the oil cooler, and...
New radiator, new hoses, new cap, flushed and re-filled with fresh coolant, new thermostat, everything that was needed to replace was done. I also did all the rubber brake lines, and E-brake cable & shoes.
I guess every truck is a bit different. No worries. I'm sure it will fix right up when I...
While driving last night around town, I started to smell anti-freeze.
Hmm?
Then I started to see it in the cab.
Hmm? Wow?
I stopped opened the small Left side hood, and saw that I was leaking coolant from the hose that connects up to the oil cooler.
Hmm? Did I blow a hole in a new hose? Maybe...
I replaced mine with the same kind.
Plastic.
The ones on my truck were old, and I got two more off a junk truck. Much newer, and work great.
I do however recomend a wiper arm upgrade kit from Saturn Surplus. The arms are spring loaded and allows you to replace the wiper blade with real...
Thanks very much guys. I really appreciate it. It was a long process, just because I was trying to get it just right. Kind of like my trailer. The best part is that even though it looks clean, I'm not afraid to drive it, because it is a well used 38 year old truck, and it likes to be driven.
My...
I know, I know.
I have placed a new thread under the Duece forum, called "1971 AM General- Restored".
All the pics will be there. Remember this has been in progress since September '08.
All done!
Easy as 1,2,3.
There were two lock nuts under the floor, access through the Master Cylinder hatch. We used a small cutting wheel to cut deeper slots into the screws and the pedal base plate too. Then a large flathead screw driver, with a small box wrench holding the nuts underneath...
I decided to replace my accelerator on the duece. Just because I want the interior to look a little more new. It goes along with all the other replaced new items.
Anyway, I bought the pedal from Saturn Surplus, and attempted to unscrew the old one, to find that 38 years of dirt and crud have...
Nice Pics! I just got my Duece all painted up, and "parade ready". I'd like to take it off road, out east, but I think I will need to wait a few months until the novelty of a clean truck wears off.
I guess Conetquot will have to due for now. LOL.
Ouch! I bet that really hurt after such a wonderful restore. Now you got me worried about mine!
It's raining pretty steady, and has been, and will continue to. All I have to do is restore the wheels. Everything else came out mint.
However, I did cut back all the limbs and trees where the duece...
Well, the truck is all painted!
I will be stenciling the sides on Monday, and re-installing the mudflaps. Fortunately, I have an extra set of flaps from the old bed I replaced, so I will have to experiment on cutting them down to a more narrow profile to fit the singles.
I figured the tires would throw a lot of debris out the back, and I'm not concerned with the summons as much as I am with the insurance claim on damage from the thrown debris.
I really was hoping that there was a narrower GI modification that made the truck look as robust with the singles as it...
