    Valence's M116A3 Mounted MEP-803A (10kw generator)

You got one of the "lucky" ones with an RTV top. That stuffs a nightmare... all you can do is pry and work it over. That right side is always stuck the worst. Thankfully its not on the majority of machines.

    Another mep803a issue

    802/803 gauge is 1AAC

    Another mep803a issue

Does that meter cross out to the one in the 802/803 specification wise?

MEP- 002a losing 24v power at start-up?? POWER ISSUE SOLVED!

@jamawieb and @Ray70 ... either of you chaps have any thoughts here?

MEP- 002a losing 24v power at start-up?? POWER ISSUE SOLVED!

I would say you may have a short in the solenoid possibly, if all connections to it are sound. I believe on the 00X machines, there is a 'new' and 'old' style starter. Might not hurt to share a photo of what yours has for the air cooled gurus to take a gander at.

MEP- 002a losing 24v power at start-up?? POWER ISSUE SOLVED!

So I assume you have put a multimeter on the batteries, to confirm you have at least 24V present? Step two of that, is to have them load tested at an auto parts store. You might have surface voltage, but NO amperage when it comes time to crank (meaning the batteries are malfunctioning). The 24V...

    Another mep803a issue

You didn't, I was the one who gummed up the works. Guy is referring to the step that I jumped, which would have been to recommend you start a parts wanted thread, in the appropriate forum (and as a newer user, you may not know this was the standard practice). I do know better. You are both...

Something every MEP TQG owner should undertake... rodent proofing

Going through a low hour, good condition 802 for an existing customer. This thing was on a trailer, way up and away from problems... Looks super clean and in awesome shape right? Almost EVERY single time.... and you won't ever know unless you take the roof off and/or see sign near the air...

    First MEP-803a

Just go with something made to work with the MEPs (and will readily fit into a 2" NPT fitting): https://www.steelsoldiers.com/threads/generator-aux-fuel-adapters-and-new-scepter-fuel-cans.217904/ The brass tube won't be long enough to get to the bottom of a 275g tank, but a length of oil proof...

    Confirm bad voltage regulator MEP016D

Back in the day, we didn't live in a throw away world... AND we had people with technical ability. Crazy, right?

MEP803A owner needing non MEP gen advice....

The scan isn't that great. There are print manuals out there for sale. I don't think Honda made this machine very long, so its doubtful to find something readily scanned higher (since this is literally what Honda offers).

    MEP002A - voltage/hertz issue

Have you been present when the AC dumps out while running, and if so, any audible change or gauge spikes or anything to let you know whats happening?

    MEP002A - voltage/hertz issue

Does the machine produce power, then suddenly stop (while still running) or does it just not produce AC at startup sometimes, and you need to start it again to make it produce?

MEP803A owner needing non MEP gen advice....

Here is the manual for this rare beast if you dont have it: https://cdn.powerequipment.honda.com/pe/pdf/manuals/31ZC6612.pdf Is the AC switch on, or something that should otherwise be OFF at starting which would initiate a kill circuit for safety sake? I don't know if the two sensors you...

    MEP002A - voltage/hertz issue

That is indeed the same part, looking back at the thread: https://www.steelsoldiers.com/threads/mep-002a-003a-frequency-transducer-replacement.198094/ For those who missed out when they were dirt cheap... they are still pretty darn cheap over at Eastern Surplus (and they are a SS vendor, so its...

    MEP803A ground mounted belly tank

Well if containment and legal install is what you want, Roth tanks are an all in one option with excellent quality and are fully compliant (plus the 2" NPT tops easily allow for an MEP aux fuel adapter to be used). Standard sizes are 100g, 275g, and 400g...

    MEP803A ground mounted belly tank

Here is one source: https://tex-tanks.com/tanks/aboveground/belly-tank/ Can you not reuse the 114g tank for this? The significantly cheaper method would be to just run 55g drums beside the machine, or tether it to a home heating oil tank. All scenarios (including belly tank) would require...

    Valence's M116A3 Mounted MEP-803A (10kw generator)

I think this is the magical question here. See the flow chart from the TM (black circle added): If you didn't build sufficient oil pressure, you will get that light and the machine won't run. If you do build sufficient pressure but the MPU (magnetic pickup) is a little out of adjustment, it...

MEP-802A Oil leak at pressure switch

    I've never had one leak.
