    MEP-004a Setup and Startup

I have a Mep-004A and if the air exhaust louver switch acts up it will kill power and shutdown after a minute or so. You cannot adjust the frequency either. Operate the louvers and make sure they are open.

    One wiper does not stop

My passenger wiper did the same song and dance on startup then stopped after the air was over 90. I just put a cutoff valve in the rubber hose to stop that crap. After air pressure is built I can use the wipers without issues.

    MEP-003 and AC test

Just make you a twist lock pigtail with some #4. That will work from your generator! Save yourself 275 :)

    Cheap LMTV's no more

I was talking to a friend at Bragg and he said they are going to dump a lot of LMTV's. They are costing too much to maintain. Got new trucks on the way.

    MEP-003 and AC test

The 100kw distribution box for the generator has the right connectors. I bought the mating one to make a pigtail to plug into our standard 3 phase power at work. I pondered over cutting the connector off or making the pigtail. I think it would have been better to just cut the original...

    Winch and Bumper Project

I got rid of them since they were lighter and I believe 6 tons. The conversion is 2.5 x rating for a snatch block so the Smitty was really 33k lbs. as I remember. They were more suited for a 15k winch like the warn M15000 which has a smaller cable that can take a tighter bend radius...

M105a2 From Camp Lejeune NC TO Near Ashville NC

I passed your info to him. I have him haul a lot so I get really good rates. Joe is a great guy and will not over charge you. The great thing about him is he just goes over and gets the stuff for me. They don't give him a hassle since he is active duty. You will get a better deal if he can...

    Winch and Bumper Project

I sell the Warn snatch blocks for $200. I am a Warn dealer. I ordered some Smitty Built so called 36k snatch blocks and sent them back. They were cheap compared to the Warn and I don't trust them for that load range. I was making a turntable mount for a winch to mount on the rear of a 939 to...

M105a2 From Camp Lejeune NC TO Near Ashville NC

Are you still looking? I have a guy that picks up for me. No issues he is a currently active duty. Where in Ashville? I am in Greenville, SC.

    Winch and Bumper Project

I am looking at a swivel pulley used on flat bed wreckers for side pulls as a secondary pull position. It would take more load than a 90 on the fairlead.

Sound proofing, is it worth the money and time?

I agree with Josh. You can get the right foam / vinyl product and you will get a 5 db drop instantly. I worked on a diesel conversion and using second skin products in a land rover really made a difference. It was worth the time, effort and expense and we got a 17 db drop in the cab. That...

Humvees making their way around the world

Anything I have bought requiring a EUC required me to verify the buyer is a US Citizen and there is a form to capture who purchased the item. If you already had a buyer you had to indicate who they are when you submit the EUC. They went crazy over Bayonets, I cannot believe they don't care who...

Humvees making their way around the world

I've heard it from a guy that works at our port that a lot of them are going out on cargo ships. I guess all you have to do is make up something, fill out the paperwork and ship away. They sure didn't depreciate in price did they!

    Tactical generator environmental modifications

I didn't get my silicon boots in today, but when I do I will show how they are attached and hopefully they will take care of the 95 db sound leak around the muffler exit hole. I will take the unit off the skid and fix the bottom drain holes. The stall mat is not nearly as efficient as the open...

    Tactical generator environmental modifications

Some more modification pics I modified the front tool storage box to allow for more airflow and I put sound materials and padded the box to prevent rattles. I added 1/8" screen behind the intakes. I used wire ties to secure. I did a sound test and even with the wind we were ambient...

    Tactical generator environmental modifications

MEP-803A Specs: Sound level: 70 dBA at 7 m / 23 feet at rated load (I found this interesting) I will crank it once I get to work and measure at 1 meter and also at the 7 meter distance today. Next things to try!!!! I will pick up another stall mat this morning and see what difference it...

    Tactical generator environmental modifications

I took the hood off and put some OC 703 in using 3M 94 spray adhesive. The other 2 pics show where I filled around the latch and in the open door edges with butyl rope caulk. I was told that a clear rubberized coating might be good over the face of the fiberglass to keep if from...

    Tactical generator environmental modifications

It is about 5 db quieter than it was. The mods to keep crap out of the radiator increased the sound on the side but I managed to contain it so I am very happy. The great thing is it is not loud at all above the generator like it was. You could easily hear the generator in the second floor...

    Tactical generator environmental modifications

    I assembled the box and did a sound test. Sides - 69 db at 3 yards (79 db @ 1 inch) Front - 72 db at 3 yards (84 db @ 1 inch) Top - 78 db < 1 yard (82 db @ 1 inch) Rear ( new exhaust hood ) 75 db at 3 yards. Note! before I added the new exhaust hood I was reading around 98 db <...
