12 volt plow on 24v system

I run a 100 amp equalizer and I have a 90 amp auto reset breaker in the circuit. If the draw is over 90 then the 12 volts is direct from the battery until the breaker resets and tries again. I couldn't tell you if it ever tripped. I like this configuration over just wiring them as a 12v...

    Tactical generator environmental modifications

Had other work get in the way so I had to wait a few days to get back on this. Everything I sprayed is fully cured now and dead to thumping! Might as well thump a rock. I will reassemble the cabinet and test it today. Once I have the new readings I will see if more noise controls need to be...

12 volt plow on 24v system

I have 3 - 100 AMP max equalizers left. I know he said the largest he could find was 720 watts but I am not sure how much he really needs. If he has 4 batteries (2 in series and parallel like the 939's) it would be easy to use 2 equalizers. They will act just like batteries in parallel. I...

Fixing the Model H82/83 Engineered Air Systems Heaters

I just got some H83's from Bragg and they were scavenged for parts. They had 8.9 and 1.8 hours on them. I looked at the one with 9 hours and the meter is connected and the one with 1.8 that I paid more for was disconnected. The fuel filter and several tee connectors are missing. Looks like...

    Tactical generator environmental modifications

Well everything is in the oven and curing. Got lucky and found a very large 4' x 6' x 5' Styrofoam lined cardboard box. I put all the sprayed parts in it with a small electric radiator heater to keep it warm. So far so good. It is just 75 in the box so everything should cure without evenly...

    HMMWV Replacement Batteries

The yellow tops are better if you are going to run equipment in your vehicle such as radios, cameras, GPS units, etc. Red tops are more suited for bare bones cranking not long discharge periods when you just want to park and use equipment.

    Electrical soldering/connections basics.

I worked in an electronics shop for 2 years. I probably desoldered (which can be harder technique to learn than soldering) and soldered tens of thousands of circuit board connections. Multi layer boards require very good soldering equipment and solder. Clean your soldering iron and...

    Winch and Bumper Project

I would much rather fight today's soldier than the Vets from WWII and Vietnam given the same age and equipment! When you get ready to do a rear winch Rusty PM me I will give you one and some metal to mount it with. Thanks for your service!

checked with the vendor and the kero heater is npt a problem. Just have to keep the the room above 50 for 24 hours min. 7 days to fully cure. I checked and I am 1 mm too thin so I will apply another coat. It is hard to tell how thick you are applying since an undercoating gun creates a lot...

    Tactical generator environmental modifications

Well I got the second and third spray coat done today. I had hydraulic project get in the way of doing more. It was 34 degrees in the shop and I had a torpedo heater trying to heat my spray booth so I ran the heater for 5 hours and left out at 6:30 tonight. I did get the OC 703 ordered and I...

    special charger for AGM batteries?

I bought some Platinum AGM's from Autozone when they were on sale last year. 3 year warranty and they are heavier than an Optima. Just a half inch of so wider for the same CCA. I got with the manager and got him to discount 10 of them for $135 each + core change discount. Turned in a couple...

    Winch and Bumper Project

In order to increase the duty cycle and reduce the OLI trip you need to increase the wire size based on the distance to the battery. Never frame ground a winch! Also you need a battery disconnect switch so you can reset the OLI easily. If you only only have 1/0, run 2 in parallel for each...

Well I didn't get the idea from dip your car but I did see a cop show episode where there was a robbery and the people painted the car blue with plastic dip and were peeling it off when they got caught. I didn't know this stuff came in so many options, cool , I will have to get some HyperShift...

    M923A2 CTIS Problem

Have you guys thought about replacing your air compressor with a 2 stage unit? It will build air much faster than the stock single stage. You can even add another tank to speed up inflation. I also converted to a MRAP dryer.
